I really should start new thread has the buyer has paid deposit. He paid last Thursday, tried to exchange on Friday but no luck. Tried today has i received email early from my solicitor that he and also the purchasers solicitor has requested mortgage money for completion on Friday. Rang my solicitor office to verbal confirm request to exchange they also needed my wife’s permission. All good ready for exchange, waited until 3:00 then emailed my solicitor about exchange and he said he hasn’t received any contact from buyers solicitor regarding the exchange. I emailed/ phoned the EA to find out why and after hour she phoned to say the purchasers solicitor still waiting for confirmation from mortgage lender for release of money for Friday completion.
Why the purchasers solicitor didn’t inform anyone is not good.
Going to try tomorrow for exchange.

Solicitors have multiple clients. To be productive there'll be working on something else. Unlike many people at work they have to account for how they spend their working day. No time to sit and around and attend to personal matters.

The EA emailed the buyers solicitor early in the morning about exchange contracts but received no reply, a simple email to explain would have taken less than 1 minutes.
My solicitor, the EA probably the buyers were left in the dark all day.

They just got on with their day jobs. Seen it all before.  Nothing they can do to alter the situation as outside their control. That's life.

Trying again to exchange. If it doesn’t get exchanged today will ask the EA to change completion date to next Friday 12th March.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that things work out, it must be very stressful for you.

When I sold in December we ended up with 4 different completion dates due to issues along the chain.  We got there in the end.  Keep the faith  :)

Yes it’s stressful but I kind of got used to it now, it’s out of my control and I gave it my best to get over the line. The buyers who wanted to complete around late January don’t seem to push their conveyancer.

Is there a reason you're so set on a Friday? It's the 'usual' day for completion because it means you've got the weekend after to unpack, but if you're keen to move ASAP then completion can be any week day.

I don’t really mind what day the completion is but if we change completion date tomorrow the solicitors will require at least a week to exchange and complete. They will need to re submit mortgage money and some lenders require at least five days notice. Tomorrow request change completion date, hopefully exchange on Thursday for completion next Friday.
