  • Hellooo everyone

I have a bit of a positive update today... firstly, I have FINALLY remembered to get some cash out of the bank and after doing a mid-week top up shop of bread, milk and eggs I have added £36.14 to the sealed pot.  More will be added to the virtual section of this on payday, which still feels so far away.

Secondly, I was reviewing my employee pension scheme and it seems that when I hit my 1 year tenure I forgot to amend my selection to 5% employer contribution (from 3%). Unfortunately I have missed 3 months of contribution (maybe 4 if it doesn't get rectified in time for pay run) but at least I have made the change and if I'm reading Martin's pension guidance correctly, I've just given myself a 2% pay rise?

For now, my contributions will remain the same at 5%, but once the debt is clear I will be increasing that by quite a bit.

Made a £10 PAD this morning as all the accounts were nicely rounded from NSDs... Grocery top up means that today is not a NSD, neither will tomorrow as I am going swimming. Saturday I have the regular food shop to do.

Today I need to chase the opticians about my refund as I was supposed to hear back within 2 days. That's a job for this afternoon.

    LMD xx

  • Spoke to opticians, £53.70 being refunded over the next 5-7 days so when that clears it’s extra towards CC4 :)

Not feeling too bad today thanks.

Not 100% but a lot better than earlier in the week. Just praying for negative tests from tomorrow so we can get out somewhere this weekend. Not bothered where or when over the weekend, just anywhere apart from at home  :)
  • I know what you mean. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

  • Couldn't sleep again last night, I have no idea why, especially as I had such a positive day.

I ended up getting back up so I didn't disturb OH and spent some time juggling my spreadsheet.  Giving myself 'living money' I think I can comfortably be debt free by June 2023, this is by continuing to split disposable income between savings and debt repayments.  CC7 is on 0% until Sept 2023 so there's also wriggle room if needed.

Made another payment last night to CC4 and today's PAD too, this sees CC4 below £4k and when I get paid on 27th this will take the total below the £12k mark. This is very encouraging!

I think it helps that OH is also focusing on clearing his credit card so we are both being mindful about what we spend our money on.  We may have a few night's out a month and the occasional take away but we don't spend lots of money on clothes and other material things.  Clearly I still have to get my hair and nails done, but that's my treat from my personal spends allocated money.

I am already feeling the effects of a poor night's sleep, I may have to take a nap after work if I want to be awake this evening. Off to get 3rd coffee...

  • Sleep is still eluding me.  I have a busy day today and I'm going to start a new book, so a book and bath before bed may help me.  Been awake since 5:15 and found it hard to get to sleep last night.

PAD made this morning to CC4, balance is coming down nicely.  Still 5 days to pay day, this has been such a long month!

    Hope everyone's doing OK

  • Nails done today, which is always a nice treat.  I used to bite my nails (I'm a worrier) and I find that now I have them done I don't bite them anymore. £5 change popped safely in my sealed pot, the total for that is almost £600 now - amazing!

I cannot wait until payday when I can make a big payment towards CC4, I've been reading some other diaries for some inspiration and I've also have a mooch through the debt-free roll of honour for other member's top tips.  I honestly don't know where I would be without this forum.  I definitely wouldn't be sat in my lovely new house that's for sure!

We are out for the day tomorrow visiting family and I am dreading another bad night's sleep. Hopefully hubby will be doing the driving so if I need to sleep on the way home I can. Make up can hide the bags under my eyes :D

Checked the credit scores and there's no change. Hopefully there will be some movement next month when more hard searches drop off from setting up accounts for the new house.

    That's all (I think :) )

  • I really need your enthusiasm and motivation. I spend a lot of 'what if' time worrying about needing some spare money and not having it rather than just chucking it all towards the debt.
Wonder why it is that you're not sleeping? I don't know if it's your thing at all but I often find a walk tires me out enough to sleep better.
