  • Good afternoon ladies and gents. Not a NSD for me today as I had to get some milk, eggs and bread, only a small spend though.

My PAD was also small, just £2.60 bank round down to CC4, and it will be small amounts for the rest of the month.  Had an email from MSE credit club today that my score has increased, that puts it in line with Experian level :)

Another long day at work, it's so busy. But at least the time flies!

When checking the MSE score, it looks like there are some no fee balance transfer offers around, hope that stays the same for the next few months just in case I have remnants on CC4 when the interest free period ends.  Fingers crossed I won't need it.

Hope everyone's having a good Wednesday, it's downhill to the weekend from here - Yay!

After a positive start to the week, I am sad to report today has gone in another direction.  I woke up to a flat tyre and that was quite a costly trip to the garage.  I now only have £5 left in the purse which may or may not end up in the sealed pot, depending on how tomorrow goes.

Other than a new tyre, it will be a no spends day as we have all we need for food supplies. No plans for tonight, maybe some board games after dinner.

I have made a tiny PAD today to CC4, I'm trying to be careful so I don't run out of money before pay day, whatever I have left at the end of the month I can pay off at that point.

Taking a break from work to grab lunch and balance the spreadsheet even by small amounts, it's satisfying to see the balances go down. :)

Hope everyone has a good afternoon!

  • Just had an email from CC7 too... increasing my limit by another £5k - must be the effects of the excellent credit score haha

Some good and bad news then.  Not great to shell out for a new tyre (having had to replace 6 tyres on 2 cars so far this month ourselves!) they aren't cheap!  Its good that the CC Company is offering to increase your limit.  At least your lending will look good on the credit reports as the overall % will go down.

This is exactly what I thought!  I'm just going to leave all of the accounts open until I've cleared all my outstanding balances and then I will probably keep 1-2 open for large purchases and holidays.

I long for the day when I am debt free!

  • Happy Friday! We made it to the end of another week. :)

My £5 change has gone into the sealed pot and today will be a NSD as I have a full day of work and don't plan on going anywhere.  Work has been crazy all week so I can't wait for 5:30 when I can relax and switch off for a bit.

Thought I would start to do a Friday summary of where my finances stand as my signature changes all the time so I think it will help me look back and see how I have progressed .

    So, here goes...

    Finance update
    CC4 £3283.55 0%
    CC7 £8600 0%
    Total debt £11883.55
Total credit available £67,200 (17% utilised)
    Bills account £420 credit
    Spends account £185 credit
    Sealed pot £671.82
Debt free challenge 2022 £1585.13/£8000 (19.8% paid so far)
    Emergency Fund £477.01

Some of my EF will be used for valentines weekend, but 2 nights of drinks and meals shouldn't be too bad.

Haven't decided whether to include the mortgage yet. It might make me feel worse haha! Plus, I know I will be able to tackle that once I've got rid of all of my card debt (and worked my way through my wish list haha)

It feels weird seeing everything written down like this, but I think in the long run it will help me to assess how far I have come.

I find having the balances written down really helpful. It is easy to look back and see just how far you have come with the repayments 😃
  • Happy Saturday :)

Today has been spendy as I have been to town to buy a relative's birthday gift and done the food shopping.  I also had to get cash out as the window cleaner came yesterday afternoon and I needed to pay him this morning.  The £5 change went into the sealed pot.

No spends for the rest of the day though and despite the lousy weather it was nice to get out of the house for a while.

I didn't sleep well again last night and I feel I may need a post-lunch nap as we are visiting friends this evening and it may be a late night.

Nothing else to report at the moment, hope everyone is having a good Saturday

  • Monday again... the weekend consisted of 2 spendy days but not massive spends really so the accounts are in an OK shape.  CC7 statement had been generated this morning so £100 sent there as my PAD.  That takes me over 20% of my £8000 target now which I am really pleased with.

Work isn't set to be as busy this week at the moment, but there's always a chance for more meetings to be scheduled. I am off on Friday as we are going away so at least I only have a 4 day week.

I have also booked our holiday for the summer, just a cheap and cheerful but it's something to look forward to.  Bit more money in the sealed pot this weekend from using cash whilst out and about.

Hubby is cooking tonight as Monday is my long shift, he's not bad in the kitchen so we will see what he comes up with.

  • We ended up having swordfish last night, which was veery tasty but oh my goodness the house still smells of fish this morning.  Tonight is slow batch cooked Bolognese so I'm sure that smell will mask the fish throughout the day and the bonus is that I get to fill up the freezer.

Yesterday was a very long shift, but productive. Today is my early shift so I am still bleary-eyed at the moment.

No further changes to the credit scores, but I am happy with where they all are.  I've made my PAD this morning but other than that it will be another NSD. I've not had CC4 monthly statement yet so I will need to make sure I pay off at least another £33 when that arrives, should be able to do that with PADs though.

Having my spreadsheet and balancing the budget every morning is a habit now, and I wonder if I will still do it when I've cleared my debts? I'm sure it will be nice to look at all the extra money I have to start with :D  However, once the urgency of clearing what I owe has gone, will I still feel I need to?

Overthinking again... I need to shift the bloomin' debts first!
