Good morning. Today should be NSD number 2 as there will be a spend but it is a planned spend. We're off out for a socially distanced restaurant meal with the HT's partner's family (or some of them) for partner's 18th birthday. A much safer plan than all flitting in and out of his mum's house at intervals. Wednesday was a spend day as I bought myself a top in the red cross shop while I was out with my aunty and on Thursday I bought sweeties that weren't on the list as well as the grocery shopping from Home Bargains.
I have £70 (I know!) in my account allocated for today. Anything left over can go back in the birthday pot until Tuesday when we're off to his his best friend's house after I finish work for her birthday celebrations. That shouldn't be too expensive as I can't drink because I'm on antibiotics and I'm insisting that he buys her present himself. I've paid £20.76 off my loan which brings it down to £1570.00 and means that if I stick to the payment schedule from now it will be paid off in 22 months. The loan should have been paid over 84 months but so far I've had it for 48 so total months when paid will be 70. It's the month for producing the annual statement which is why I wanted to pay a bit extra before that is done.3 -
It will fly by.

Sounds like you are making great progress! Good idea to keep some back for a little decorating etc, means you can keep living and not all about the debt. Hope you have a lovely time at the restaurant tonight.Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

Good morning. We had a lovely afternoon/evening out. NSD too as partner's great grandma paid for everything as part of partner's birthday present. I really wasn't expecting that so NSD number 2.
My normal loan payment of £86.27 has been paid and I have £250 sitting in an account waiting for due dates for card minimum payments. I need to add £13.63 to that this month - possibly from grocery budget savings - to make up the £350 per month that I committed to when I used the snowball calculator. I still like the idea of paying off my loan early too so any extra after that will be split between my interest bearing card and the loan I think.
I was talking about the outstanding debt yesterday with the HT on our way to the birthday meal. I am always completely honest with him and we discuss most things so we were talking about my finances once he leaves education and how important it is for these debts to be paid off. He informed me that he won't be leaving home as soon as he finishes college/university/whatever and he will be paying me board. He's a good lad.5 -
What a lovely great grandma 👵🏻.
I love the board idea...he does know that board usually barely covers all the food they eat, let alone the utilities? 🤣Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Good afternoon. Yesterday was a spend day due to the HT being slightly aggrieved at not having any birthday cake at the two 18th parties that he went to. There seems to be a trend these days to save the cake for family after the party instead of sharing it. I reckon that we had the last laugh as one of them was three tiers of mostly navy blue fondant. I won't be too specific but when you eat a lot of navy fondant certain bodily functions turn green 🤣 Anyway £3 worth of small malteser cake bought on my way home from work restored his cake/life balance to normal. There are chocolate brownies in the tin but I think a bit of buttercream was required.
NSD today. Thank goodness for Sundays and my total reluctance to leave the house after working all day Saturday. I've planted some things out in the garden, done some weeding, added a bit of compost to the pots of some of my houseplants, cleaned up the cat's furball which exited the cat in the usual manner of furrballs, renewed my tax credits online and I'm having 5 minutes with a cuppa before I tackle the ironing.3 -
