Hugs to Dancemum.
I've spent a lot of time today watching, reading and discussing about the snow, wondering about our journey tomorrow to funeral. We've had small flakes most of the day but not a great deal settled to any depth. Friend's widower tells us the roads are ok round his way - and thanks to fly advice too. We don't have to leave until about 11am so will aim to be ready at 10.30 depending on various forecasts etc first thing.
- This morning I started doing a simple task which I hadn't got round to - sewing a button back on my thick smart coat; it came off after MIL's funeral and the coat has been hanging on the banisters ever since. Just in case I need it tomorrow, I thought I'd better do it - crikey can't remember when I last sewed on a button.
- Filled bird feeders and defrosted their water
- one load through DW and other stuff wudupa (joint credit there as Mr N wu)
- continued sorting of office. Did the long-listed frog of gong through my 'car' folder. Why did I keep every reminder, confirmation and insurance certificate since about 2009? Confidential waste box is now filling fast. Put a message on local FB to see if anyone wants any file dividers or plastic wallets. Bravely threw out 22yr old assessment materials. Still half a filing drawer to go (amongst other stuff in the room), but hopefully once I've done that Mr N can mend the broken hanging file thingies and they won't collapse again as there will be so much less in there............
- went to collect new kettle from Cu££ys. Old kettle has finished having a tantrum and is now working perfectly.
- Mr N spoke to another local potential granite-grinder who will not be charging more than the blasted hob is worth.
At the moment it seems as if most of the rooms in our house are in turmoil for a reason; it can't be true for every room but it feels like that.
Oh well enough for today.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Early night.. The girls had us up at 7:30.. fed, dressed, coats and shoes nagging to play in the snow! I am hoping to have a look at shifting some gubbins in the back room tomorrow.. and the front room and stairs need vacuuming.. My bedroom is a total pit and the girls room is a total pit.. ok, so, I've done NOTHING since before christmas and my entire house is squalid!! I'm not entirely sure where to start but I think it may involve a lot of binbags and maybe the clothes bin at the end of the street.OH needs to go buy cat food and I need some new rollers for paint.. just cheap ones because they are being binned after use.. glitter paint is impossible to clean out of rollers so i am getting disposable ones.I have at least 3 weeks worth of flingage to ge this hovel vaguely habitable and DD1 is threatening to bring her beasties one day.. I think the most productive time of my life was when my laptop died last year.. I'm not sure getting a new one before the house was fully fixed was a good idea.. even though I LOVE it !!!email sent to see if I can get the grant extended for the insulation on my house.. I need to save some money for the extra bit and I haven't had the brain power to deal with talking to the mortgage company. I did try one time but the signal in my house is terrible and then my phone cut off.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)7

Thanks Round, I needed someone to say that, I will ring up today x
Pigpen I spend far too much time on my laptop, I spend 35 hours a week on it for work and during lockdown I am usually on my own laptop when I am not working. This is probably why my wrists/hands are aching and my eyes need testing. I keep thinking I should write down how much time I spend staring at screens which might shock me into doing something else with my spare time.
Feeling fairly bright and breezy this morning, bodyweights class done, off for a coffee and shower now then paid stuff. No more snow here but it looks very icy.
Stay safe if you are going out, and have a good Wednesday all x9 -
Morning lovelies. Afterwork yesterday I came home put the fires on and called it a day. It was so cold and having had to open windows in my teaching room to keep it well aired between students I was freezing. Lots of snow at the other house by the sea, neighbours have sent me lovely photos. No snow here today just very very cold. Fires on so house will be warm all day.
Off to meet DD1 for lunch which will have to be eaten in the car given the temperature. She studies in the library but it closes for an hour at lunchtime to be aired so they have leave and of course uni canteen only does takeaway so they eat outside. Going to try and find a flask to put soup in as it forecast to stay well below freezing all day today.
Admin to do for DD2 as she gets her rental on Thursday and we are the guarantors so have loads of stuff to scan, sign etc so that will be a warm task to do in front of the fire.

Morning all. Safe travelling to Narc0 and Mr N xx
Yes, YL and round and everyone, please take care of your eyes. I'm a fine one to talk - I'm another who spends far too much time squinting at the computer monitor or (worse) my K!nd1e - but I did have my eyes tested last summer and they won't do it more than once a year. I desperately want to get out in the garden for a change of scene, a tidy up and some much needed exercise (walking is not going to improve the strength in my upper body) but it's far too cold atm and the ground is frozen. Just a light dusting of snow overnight, and a beautiful blue sky right now with the air temperature outside well below freezing. I will join the hardy band of dog walkers at second coffee time, rather than leave it till later.
Having had his C jab on Monday afternoon, DH went to bed last night shivery, and has woken up this morning feeling very grotty. I'm expect it's just the reaction (I had something similar). I took him a cuppa and told him to stay in bed. He was supposed to be taking an ibuprofen tablet with his cuppa (he's not allowed parrots because of his other meds), but when I went back five minutes later, he'd drunk the tea but couldn't remember whether or not he'd taken the tablet. I shall have to keep an eye on him - I wouldn't let him take another one because they are the strong variety. When he's running a high temp he often gets confused.
Apart from that "excitement", I have emptied the DW, had my breakfast, tidied the kitchen (and wiped the worktops), DR and LR, watered all the downstairs plants including DH's cacti on his bedroom windowsill, threw away the remains of last week's daffs and the poinsettia that I bought from MrAl back in November (great value), and refilled the (shared) printer paper tray. Other than Rosie's walk, I intend to spend most of today with the ancestors. Yesterday evening was spent squinting at all nine pages of an 1840 Will and checking a transcription that was done some years back - I am very pleased that I managed to fill in a few gaps and tie up a lot of loose ends with unrelated people whose names have appeared in other documents, but talk about wordy....!!!!
Hope everyone has a good day. Jazee, I'm glad you were well enough to go back to work yesterday. Thinking of you too dancemum x (((Hugs))) spoons and sticks to all, as needed xx

Morning all
12 hours of paid stuff yesterday! At this rate I could have done all my working hours by the end of today lol. Trying to stay positive about it but I’m struggling...
Dailies and laundry shuffling done yesterday, nowt else though. Errands not run either.
This morning was another 6am start, had a break to run my car to the garage for a service, DH drove with me and brought me home, also ran wm x 1 and flapped about a bit doing the dailies. Once again I’m not sure what else I will manage, I’m a bad flylady at the moment!
Hugs to all, stay safe in the icy weather xx7 -

Good morning 😁
No paid stuff today, so I had a lie in (no surprises there!) I have cooked myself breakfast - I signed up to ww yesterday in a bid to shift some weight, but having previously done sw I am having trouble getting my head around it! Bank accounts & emails checked - I won the lottery!! Now I have to decide how I am going to spend my £3.50 😂😂 I won't be moving house this week, so I had better tidy up! On that note, I need to write a little list to keep me on track:
Empty DW
Reload DW
WU remaining pots
Clean downstairs toilet & sink
Clean upstairs toilet and sink
Exercise
Sweep & mop the back room
Maybe empty a box.....
I have my vaccine tomorrow, and I am getting a bit nervous about the side effects! I may have to do as much as I can today just in case!!
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them, especially Narc0, Round, Dancemum & Fayolle7 -
Morning all
Did some flying before bed last night so list updated. Paid stuff mainly on the cards today.
Dancemum hugs, the day after a funeral is yucky
Kaz very jealous of your snow
Iona I hope hubbie feels better soon
Pigpen I noticed it was still light yesterday at 5 too, so lovely
I've started changing the cat beds this morning and done some pilates. Going to hoover and mop now then lunch and an afternoon of work and zoomiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair8 -
Note to self p 5
Hello all I'm still here...
Phew
Fossil making went really well ... TA had got out a fossil excavation set so we had bones and spines to press into the dough. Yesterday I was too knackered to do much other than fling one of my two pairs of jeans into wash because I tipped a full mug of (thankly not freshly made) coffee down me. And run DW.
I have a new ROD *proud boast* - the hallway...come in...put it down...leave it. it didn't take long. So now I am tidying and taking stuff to one of the 4 waste receptacles as two will be emptied tomorrow (and one is compost bin). And my ongoing project to get rid of an unwanted laptop trolley at work is complete! *proud boast*#2
Once I have it tidy I shall dust and vacuum.
