BarbCh: "I need to lose weight.... but the disc problem will stop me from exercising!"There once was an item on Blue Peter about muscles / energy, where they had the presenter throw a basketball through a hoop and measured her muscle/energy level (sorry, it's a looooong time ago), and then they let her stand on the same spot and just think about that same movement. They measured 80% of the same muscle/energy level. Maybe you can just think about walking and stretching, drink water every time you fancy a snack, and it would help? I do think the Blue Peter presenter thought thoroughly of the movement (if that makes any sense). Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.595

Yes the power of thought is much under estimated and there's nothing to lose if I don't give it a try (apart from weight that is!)
Siebrie... I Hope all is well for you3 -
Would chair based exercises be suitable? As with any exercise it can be tailored to your particular ability.
Zumba Gold seated does exist. My instructor says it's still a good workout.
I'm plodding along, began to tackle clothes.
Once travel restrictions are eased next week I hope to get rid of more stuff via Freecycle/Freegle.
Been suffering a bit with covid jab reaction but nothing too bad and nothing that makes me think it wasn't totally worthwhile.6 -
Barb.....I have fibromyalgia and arthritis, lower back pain etc. When I have flair ups and can't dance or walk much then I just do a mixture of tai chi and pilates. Basically just gentle stretching. I can even do them in bed. They probably don't help with actual weight loss as such (only healthy eating does that for me) but they keep me toned, more flexible and improve my mobility.Would something like that be ok. That and Epsom salt baths, and those heat patches help me with pain relief.Hope you feel better soon.5

I think lifestyle changes are key for me now. I've just bought some healthy foods, not that I don't eat healthy anyway, but just waiting for warmer weather and then I will eat more salads!
Exercise suggestions from everyone are great and just as son as I feel a bit better and motivated... I will try them all.
Gentle exercise and toning muscles are going to be the best for me as walking is going to be a bit of a challenge, but if my muscles are stronger I will cope better.
I hope all you ladies are doing well.... we don't seem to be posting much at the moment .4 -
I'm working from home, so when I finish work, I close the computer. I feel a bit guilty when I visit the forum during working hours (blush...I'm supposed to be working now!).

Thank you, BarbCh. Yes, I'm fine; I'm usually fine, it just takes some time to get my head around certain things, but my basic mood is 'fine'.

Barb......how are you doing, hope you are ok.Well I've been busy, trying to do a bit of spring cleaning...just a room at a time, not much in the way of decluttering, just 1 black bin liner of assorted carp this week. I have promised my neighbour he can have a load of wood (mainly old kitchen cabinets that are currently cluttering up my shed). So hopefully I can then make a start on sorting out the sheds once the weather warms up a bit.I am still writing in my journal most days. I find it very therapeutic. It definitely helps clear my head, and helps me focus.I have a ordered a Feng shui book, (pre loved of course😉) and also a business book. My mannequin arrived this week so I shall be setting that up this weekend, ready to start taking photos, writing up content etc. Aiming to really get cracking after my holiday. We are only going to the Peak District whilst DS1 and the gang have work done on their house. Basically I'm just another pair of hands to help out with the babies, but it will be a nice change. Also get my second covid jab out of the way - so probably early May by the time I get under way.I also have a load of stuff ready to go to the auction house when they open.I need to start making some dosh. 😉4

@helensbiggestfan... well you are being productive!
I've had a quiet week just a little bit of pottering around in between plenty of rest. I'm feeling better and trying to reduce meds to see how I feel without them.... Needless to say, I do still need them, but if I don't try without pain relief, how will I actually know if I need them or not!
I'm really stating to feel irritated by all these lock down restrictions and despite them slowly lifting, I can't see light at the end of the ever increasing length of the covid tunnel!!
I'm not sure if the government understand that people will be people!! If you are sensible and don't want to risk catching the virus and being severely ill or potentially die.... then your own common sense tells you what yo do!
So making things law is a bit dictatorial in my book! Although I see why they feel the need to do it.... because of all the people without common sense!
So I think I will feel much better when I can get abroad and relax in the sun!
Hope you enjoy your trip to the Peak District..... have fun x
I think I need one of these lol!4
