Another day of chaos......3 engineers in the house touching stuff, walking on stuff etc to install the 5 new radiators. They were as good as they could be; kept on hoovering etc and all wearing masks, but of course both the garage door (which leads into the kitchen) and the front door were open all day. I shut myself in the bedroom with a laptop and headphones thinking I wouldn't be bothered, but had forgotten that although that rad wasn't being replaced, it was being fitted with a new thermostatic valve. Anyway, I managed to finish my online course.
Couldn't think what to do next so I went for a run, getting wet as it drizzled half way round and muddy as even the good tracks have streams running down them. However be positive; it was the first 5km run I'd done since mid-Dec. Got home looking forward to my shower; Mr N had been instructed to plug in the portable radiator to warm the room up........went in to find the door open and an engineer doing something to the rad in there. Pooh (or words to that effect). Sat in the conservatory with a coffee and started to get chilled. Put 2 eggs on to boil on the lounge gas stove. Asked engineer if I could possibly have a quick shower, so at least then got warmer.
Anyway, they finished and went so I did a lot of flying - wiping with bleach anything I thought they may have touched, cleaned both sinks which were curiously full of drilling dust, vacuumed every floor in the house, swept kitchen floor. So I felt pretty virtuous after all that.
Put that last course on my CPD account then sorted out all the downloading, uploading, box ticking and parting with large sums of money to apply for my next 3yrs assessment certificate. That's a big frog ticked. Hopefully they won't fail me on anything silly I've done.
Did drum practice; I'll swear (and sware) that my practice piece gets faster each time I play it - not possible as my phone can't speed tracks up, but it certainly sounds like it.
Made a pizza so looking forward to sitting down with that and Midsomer Murders/Joanna Lumley/Drowning/Drum programme not necessarily in that order and not necessarily all this evening!Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Hello all x
DD had to collect her GCSE papers this morning, so we turned that into a driving practice and popped to the shop for butter.
I finished session 2 of my course this morning, done some washing, wiped kitchen cupboard doors and counters, cleaned the hob, and washed and dried the dishes (more there now though!!)
Took Mum for her vaccine and had 2 parent evening video calls with DD's teachers in the car!!
Came home, cooked food, and now chilling while I can hear the dishes, WM and TD calling!!!
Well done on all the flying all and hope things go a bit speedy for Pigpens crew x ( Although, I think we all know, they don't go very fast under normal circumstances!!!)8 -
No flying today - please don’t evict me from the thread, even worse not from the flylady commune before it is even established...
I went in to work at job 2 for an hour or so first thing to distract me (and avoid bathroom cleaning as I just wasn’t in the mood). I’m getting nervous about handing my job over - inferiority and inadequacy complex riding high. Lots of “what ifs”.... they see how rubbish I’ve been, they find something terrible that I’ve done wrong etc etc. Crazy.
Afternoon spent at the hospital.
Hah! I put a load through the wm this morning! Can I stay a flylady now??!8 -
Fayolle - your place is booked on the flylady retreat and cannot be unbooked so I guess you will have to accept that you are now a flylady for life.
As for the 'what it's- what if you have done an amazing job and they realise what a treasure has slipped through their fingers? What if it doesn't matter what they think because the people that love you love you for being you and not for being a portrait of perfection... although I'm sure you are. What if people who have never met you think you are amazing and a caring and thoughtful friend. 🥰🥰
Flying? I made my bed, fed the birds, put out the recycling and made a long overdue appointment for an eye test on Friday. That's a longstanding frog released from captivity.
Bed for me now.
Love to all

Pigpen hope you got some sleep!
Well said Round x
I did not want to get out of bed, but here I am ready to do my body weights class. WFH today and a tough work meeting tonight, I am determined not to be negative and not to take things to heart. Other than that just kind of plodding on, will fit some flying in somewhere.
Looks like it is going to be a bit of a damp day, but no snow here. Have a good Wednesday all x8 -
Morning lovelies. Sticks & spoons here for anyone who needs, accompanied by croissants, cheese & red wine.
Just finishing my coffee then I'm off to fly in the bedroom, it's long overdue a good sort and clean, although fairly tidy and this morning I have lost an earing so have to move bed, bedside table etc.
Need to find some nice handcream too as now back at work I'm cleaning table and chairs 6 - 8 times a day and after day 1 my hands feel like a lizard.
It's pouring with rain here, lots of local flooding but as we live in the country it's roads and fields that are affected not homes, thank goodness.
See you later when I've done something.8 -
Morning all.
Pigpen, you're in dervish mode again! Good luck with getting that little lot done today.
Sorry I was MIA yesterday. Monday evening I had a lot of pain in my right hip and groin, and couldn't work out why. Yesterday I joined the WAC in a tremendous amount of pain, and when I tried to get out of bed for breakfast, I could hardly stand. I ended up hobbling about all day on 2 walking sticks inherited from my mother, and poor Rosie didn't get a walk at all. I did manage to declutter the last of my course sessions, but not much else.
Fortunately I slept better last night and have managed to get downstairs with only one stick this morning, and back up again carrying my first cuppa. And I have realised what must have caused the problem. Thinking back over Rosie's lovely walk on Monday, I have remembered that while she was playing so happily with the labrador pup, I was chatting to the owners. As we walked along, I took my eyes off the ground and accidentally put my right leg down a deep hole in the sandy soil (no rabbits in our area, but lots of dogs and children who like to dig!), so I must have pulled a muscle badly - though at the time I dismissed it as nothing and got back home from almost the farthest point on our route before it started hurting.
We are now down to just 2 day's worth of F&V, so I have got to be well enough to go shopping tomorrow, and ibuprofen, painkillers and as much rest as possible will be the order of today. Neither I nor DH is fit enough to get the Dy$0n out. I will probably have enough in the washing baskets to do WMx2. I have a Z00m meeting at 11.00, and together with card making, phonecalls and the ongoing ancestral sort-out, that will keep me mainly pinned to the desk. However, I must give Rosie a run somehow. Sunshine is forecast for this afternoon, so I'll drive the half-mile to the field and then stand leaning on my sticks for a while while she runs round with her friends. I've been watching a lot of sheepdog competitions recently
Lots of (((hugs))), any spare spoons I've got, and sticks to those in need xx7 -
Morning all
well said Round...channelling the spirit of our lovely Toots there...
proper lie in this morning but I need to go shopping as I have decided to bake with the Keyworker kids tomorrow. For I am mad...I shall donate my own vanilla extract because it'll likely go out of date before I use it. I finally found a no melt recipe as I can't take the kids into the staff room where we would normally bake due to the risk assessment.
our number of the week in EYFS is 8 so we are baking 8 cookies. V proud of tenuous link!
list up, sorry it's late. I forgot... IDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
