  • Hi all, very spendy day as did big shop in Mr T including 2 large boxes of cat food as that seems the only local place i can find that brand plus a big  bag of dry cat food, plus stocked up some store cupboard and freezer stuff.  Going to see if i can last the week with what i've got.  Making curry for tea which will be at least 2 portions.  This month i have written down every spend on food, cleaning/household stuff and cat food and it came to £268 which seems a lot for just me and 2 cats !!  So i will now prepare March budgets based on increased mortgage payment and decreased gas/elec.
Gratitudes - lovely walk with DD1; nice phone chat with DD2; watched a robin in the hedge when out for a walk

We made it through February! Had an early start and went out riding with an acquaintance first thing, it was lovely (and quiet!). Then went to volunteering for the first time this year now that my back is feeling a bit better. Have done a few jobs since I got home but ha e had a bath and changed into my jammies now so that's me done for the day!

I'm grateful for the sun being out recently, pain getting progressively better, and weirdly grateful for messing up my budget and being surprised to have extra money! (Which of course went to debt and savings because I was a good turtle).
  • Sunday- NSD 16- yeah!
I am sending myself to the naughty chaise longue! From my list I have cleaned out the rabbits, ridden the pony and been out for a run with DD and our dog. I have changed the bedding, done some washing, prepped and cooked meals and done dishes. However I have not cleaned the bathroom, hoovered anywhere (and certainly not the whole house) or cleaned the kitchen floor. As predicted I continue to live in a mess! I may try to save the situation by having a 10 minute tidy in the main living area which will at least make it look better even if it's not really and if I clean the bathroom sink after I brush my teeth it will look better as well. I really would like to live in a tidy house, but not enough to do anything about it! I tend to keep the kitchen clean (hygiene matters) but the rest gets very neglected.
Today I am grateful for a good run (further and faster than last time), pony being a good boy and a catch up with my sister.
Thank you mothernerd for this months challenge. I have saved, exercised and eaten sensibly. I have NOT made any progress in my housekeeping goals 🙈

I think that's more than enough for one day! Think about all the steps you've done instead!

Thanks you to everyone who has taken part this month. I think you are all being much too hard on yourself. Think about all the things you have done (housework will still be there tomorrow) and celebrate your achievements.
Today I have cleaned all the recycled plastic raised bed bits (they are about 13 years old now I think), finished off painting all the wooden raised bed bits (new ones only , I have a couple of pieces that belong to mine from home but haven't worked out how to get the 8' lengths here), done a load of washing and dried it outside, filled 2 more buckets with stones, filled a few plastic bottles with water (to free up more buckets) and dug out part of an existing bed (it all has to come out and be levelled off before the new beds can go in). I managed to move four of the edging pieces (can only just lift them off the ground) which didn't want to go anywhere. Had to use the crowbar.

I made a Sunday dinner, filled the oven with baked potatoes and cooked extra veg for other meals (finished off 3 packs of frozen veg - carrots, mixed florets and cauli). Now I've stopped everything is starting to ache. Tomorrow is wear something decent day. Mum has a podiatrist appointment and phoned at the end of last week to get an audiology appointment (don't think it's an actual appointment, just dropping off hearing aids for new batteries and maybe the tubes cutting). She put the phone down and I said 'so what are the protocols' and she looked at me as though I had grown two heads. I'm going to write out an envelope with her name and other info on. Hoping it's good weather because we will be going in, taking the hearing aids to audiology, going out of the infirmary at the other end and back round to the front to pick hearing aids up when 15 minutes have elapsed. Out the far end again then wait to go in the other entrance when it's time for the podiatrist. Lots of hanging around and they've removed all the outside benches. Mum will have the walker to sit on but for me it will be the metal bus stop bench or a set of 3 concrete steps.

I have received the letter telling me to book my covid jabs but the vaccination centres are all in weird places. They have put them in order of nearest to furthest away (as the crow flies) but by road they are actually a lot further. The Manchester ones are looking favourite - 2 in Whalley Range and one at Sportcity. I have been to Whalley range once and on the A-Z it doesn't look much further than Hulme where I did voluntary work placement a few years ago. Will have to do another session with the public transport planner but it's looking like either forking out £20 each way for a taxi (then lovely driver can worry about where we are going and getting me there in good time) or 3 or more bus/ tram/ trains maybe 2 hours travelling (V1 bus is a lot quicker but it bypasses Piccadilly for my connecting buses). Then go back and actually book my appointments - hoping I can go after the morning rush and get back home before the evening one. Someone had posted this morning that she burst into tears after her jab - doctor said it wasn't unusual, it's all the accumulated tension we've been living with for months. I felt like bursting into tears when I saw the list of centres - I've been waiting for this letter and then it just seemed like a giant obstacle course. I used to be good at getting myself to unknown places, I was working out where things were in relation to places I've been on courses at or to meetings for various voluntary groups and where DS2's uni home was (and the hospitals I've had to take him to or visit him in). This too will pass.

Today I am grateful for getting stuff done (lots of tough outdoor stuff), for getting to the top of the vaccination list and for finding the emergency phone charger (or we won't be able to get back from the infirmary). Also grateful for all you lovely turtles and for having a plan.

NSD  total of 19!!!  Thank you all for keeping  me on the straight and narrow this short month.
I do try and clean and hoover my whole house every week, but that is because there are 5 of them and one of me. I dislike cleaning intensely, so I give myself 3 hours once a week to get all the way from the top, down to the kitchen door, and then I reward myself with 6 days off.   The kids mostly keep their rooms tidy now, and I am teaching them to stick their laundry in the machine once  a week, I am having less success with stopping them from taking mugs and glasses and bowls upstairs - I have a strict no food upstairs rule -  no idea why they need the bowls and plates then......
Got a few frogs off the list, and a few partial frogs which will be off the list next week now they are started.   The weather has made it much easier to get on with things. I have really enjoyed February.  Thanks @mothernerd for a fab 15 challenge.
    See you all in March
