Oh Taplady, how awful, the shock must be awful, we are all sending you lots of hugs :grouphug:. Once you get over the shock, you will just be glad he's OK.
I have just been to Morrisons, and beef is on special - I bought a piece of topside that was only £3.30 per kilo - sorry, I bought 2, yes, I know my freezer is full but I managed to squeeze it inYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Hi all :hello:
Haven't had much time this week to read through all the threads, I'm slacking a bit, sorry guys.
Just want to say happy birthday, anniversary and hugs to everyone who needs them.
Pipkin - love the recipe, going to try it tomorrow as I have everything in and the cake I was going to make tomorrow was made on Wednesday after work. I just felt like making it, so I did! I want to put the mix in the mixer like you did, but will the dough break my plastic mixer thingies or does it not go that hard?I don't make many cakes, I'm still learning.
Haribo - my mum goes on a rant like this every now and again. Shame it's to my dad and my 29 year old brother, and not to little kids. Dunno why she puts up with it, she does all my brother's washing and ironing, I think she's mad!
I did have a few more things I wanted to add to people, but can't read my own notes!
My OS day will consist of nothing until I get in from work at about 5.15pm, then will continue that way! I am going to put a couple of loads in the WM, but dinner is 95p Tesco pizzas and garlic bread. Yum. I have my meal plan written on the fridge much to the amusement of my lodgers.
Anyhows that is it for me for now.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Ooh this sounds nice. What do you do with topside then? I only ever buy brisket to roast or stick in the slow cooker.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

You can cook topside in the slow cooker, but it is a bit of a waste as it is one of the best quality cuts.
I put it in the oven at about 180 for a couple of hours. I also put some vinegar on it which is supposed to bring out the flavour. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Hi everyone!
Just to say I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth and forgotten about you all. Have just been busy and sidetracked reading one of the blogs that was recommended on one of the threads on here a couple of weeks back.
We should finally have a broadband connection sorted out for home next week so at last I'll be able to pop in at weekends and catch up on all your doings.
Old style continues apace and seem to have done a lot of baking of late. I am aiming to poison the lucky recipient of my hm ginger biccies at the small person's Christmas Bazaar tonight [:D ] and have also got some hm ginger and cinnamon scones [I added the left over glace ginger from the mincemeat] to try which I made as an experiment last weekend when the weather was so wet.
Hope you're all keeping well and will hopefully be around a bit more soon!

Hi pollyanna.
My mixer has plastic mixer thingies too and it has never broken them. If you're unsure, mix them by hand first - mix flour, ginger and spice with flour, then rub in butter, then sugar and egg.
The dough doesn't go hard.
It hasn't really been that long since we started making cakes and biscuits - maybe two years - so I'm still learning too. I tend to make something, and if it turns out ok, stick with the same thing. I should be more adventurous.

Hi again
Haven't achieved much at all today. Still washing is on the line and I've managed to print out DS school photo and send cards to my brother in USA.
Scuzz you are being the best friend you can. If it's really bad them your friend should go. If it involves violence, there should be a refuge near you who will help her with everything.
HARIBO I rant at my OH regularly, Don't know why I bother really.
Catowen hope things pick up for you soon.
Taplady hope your DS is better soon.
Must really get my A**e in gear. Off to lapland on Sunday for three days and haven't packed yet. :A xx0
