Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Fri 7th Dec 07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. Man was it a wild and windy night... I could not sleep very well.
Great office meal last night. Best one ever I think. There was more food than anyone could eat. In previous years we have been places and you always run out of veg or the meat is small or something. Not this year, I almost burst! The lamb shank looked like a whole leg of lamb and so on... Fabulous. My only annoyance is the cost of the wine list. £15 for a bottle of wine I can buy in the shops for £5 is not a very good deal. The set meal only cost £20 and the cheapest wine was almost that... Still everything else was great.
I recommend the Pier house, Charlestown if you are ever in Cornwall on holiday.
I think I have recovered from my bloated state now.... I could not even sit in the car comfortably.... Gluttony!!!
Off to Plymouth today by train for a little Christmas shopping. The one and only day I have to get pressies for our friends in USA... What I don't know? I usually get England sports stuff, but we are so carp at everything at the moment it's embarrassing.
Wedding reception tonight, so more food. The couple got married abroad and this is their English party..
Busy busy.... But I am off now until Monday... Well folks have a nice one.

It's pretty grotty here too. Having spent the last two days feeling really unwell, I think I'm over the worst. I haven't gone sick off work for years. Intend to take things easy today and rest when I need to. Will try and write my Christmas cards and post the one's I've got to send to the USA.
Have a good day eveyone and hugs to all who need them:A xxxx0 -

Morning N9eav & everyone else
Very windy here too, kept me awake too. I wonder what damage has been done at school, there's bound to be some as the building was only designed to last 10 years & has been up for 20, it's getting a bit ramshackle.
The lodger came home last night, got changed into her lounging around clothes for 10 minutes, then after a phone call she started rushing around & got back into her school clothes, there were parents at school who'd made an appointment to see her & she'd either forgotten, or more likely, not been told.
I hope no one has suffered damage at home.
Hugs Hester

Goodmorning everyone,
I woke up really early this morning at 4.30am. Couldn't get back to sleep. All my plans have went out the window today as DGS & XDIL came up around 9am. She went shopping and I looked after him. She returned at 3pm  and has just left now. It's been the hottest day this summer so far. I'm waiting until the sun isn't as strong and then will walk over to P's to drop him off some eggplant that DH picked this morning.
Plans - to have a early night.Tea will be something easy.
N9eav You won't be able to fit in the plane soon the way you're going.Oink, Oink.
jannyannie Hope the rest today works and your well for the weekend.
:santa2:Mrs Mix. DH op's on Monday.
I expect Churchmouse will be on later today. She's probably stuck to the pillow.
((hugs)) to those unwell. Byeeeeeee
PS. This box is now grey. It use to be white. Is anybody else's like that?Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning N9EAV - and all who follow. That sounds like a wonderful meal and the hotel looks great. I love Cornwall, even this time of year. There's something very rugged and romantic about it. Or is that just me?
It was wet and windy here all night but it has just stopped raining so I hope it stays that way.
DS2 and his GF came round last night so he could open his birthday presents; I showed him all the birthday wishes on here. He was really impressed with how many ladies said 'Happy Birthday' to him! I can't believe it's nearly a year since he moved into his own place. Their new kitten is still as mad as a box of frogs - he has learned how to play 'fetch', just like a dog! He's gorgeous but slightly hyperactive and really keeps them on their toes. That reminds me, I must knit a family of mice for him for Christmas!
Well, DH has just left with a packed lunchbox (now, why does that always sound rude?), so I shall have a shower in a minute. I am planning to get out quite early to do my food shopping, go to the bank, go to the gym and then round to DS2's if I've got time. He's got the day off today so I said I'd pop round for coffee. I need to get the WM and BM on in a minute. I managed to clean right through yesterday and, today, I need to file all the paperwork I sorted out the other day. Dinner will be shepherd's pie, using some mash left-over from yesterday. DH always has to have baked beans with that. Pudding will be left-over bread-and-butter pudding so I don't have to do much thinking about that. I shall try and finish off the Christmas cards this afternoon; I have several to go abroad and I think the 13th is the last day for Europe but I need to find out what the last day is for Canada and Australia.
Well, I'd better go and have that show.
Hope all the poorly ones are feeling better now. It'll be great to get all the bugs out of the way for Christmas, won't it? It's been a bad autumn for illnesses so far.
Anyway, see you all later - I haven't read all of yesterday's thread yet so will try and do that later, as well.
Have a brilliant, if wet and windy, Friday, everyone.

Morning everyone.
Well it looks as though dd hasnt got chickenpox, she has a few spots on her tummy but no new ones appeared overnight and they are not as red as last night so hoping its just a rash, and a huge thanks to mrs mix for the Pm, its really put me at easy.
So shes going to school and i will show her teacher the rash she has and if they are not happy to keep her in school ill bring her home, although i will be quite mad as a little girl was allowed back into school yesterday after only 2 days off and she has had the pox, she is still covered in spots but her mum insists they have all scabbed over, Personally i cant see it after only 2 days off school, but this parent is the sort who needs her kids at school so she can spend the day in the pub!!!! (That sounds really !!!!!y but its true)
Plans for today hoping for all kids to back at school (going to wake ds1 up in minute and see how he is), wrap some more gifts, wash more bedding, clean the 2 bedrooms that didnt get done yesterday, and maybe scrubb the kitchen floor.
Have a great day everyone

Morning everyone
Not a very nice day here either - windy, but not really cold inside. Before we had the cavity walls done it used to be freezing when you put your foot out of bed but it's comfortable to sit here with no heating on this morning.
Yesterday I made some ginger snap refrigerator biscuits, so have just sliced some of the mixture and put in the oven for the girls to have fresh biscuits when they wake up.
I also spent last night setting up a hunt the questions type christmas quiz, which I will run over the next three days. There's 8 questions per day which I'm going to hide around the house - today's lot are done.
We've not had any more traps set off with regards mice, and no more poison had been touched - until yesterday:mad: I noticed quite a bit was taken out the tray, so they're still around.
I've a doctor's appointment today and need to pick up some popcorn kernels as we are making popcorn at the girls christmas party next week and asda didn't have any in stock.
:grouphug: HUGS:grouphug: to all who need them.

Morning all
N9eav, I think you will need to joing the slimming thread after your holidays
Mrs Mix, Sky+ is fantastic, we had it fitted last week and it is so easy to use, you will love it
dlb, really pleased to hear it's not chickenpox, just hope dd can take part in the school play
Poor dog had been sick in the night, so wm on already with his bedding in it
Shopping day today, but can't buy any frozen bargains as the freezer is full, I really must have a week of using things up - more like a month really
Hope everyone is OK, have a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
