So sorry yes I did mistake the post below you yours however the seller says in his listing that he doesnt accept paypal, why would he not if everything was above board.diggingahole said:
£23 each? suggest if you want to come on here making sly comments like that you should take the time to read and get facts right, you are referring to one of sellers live listings posted by AdrianC, I paid nearly £100 for two tyres.Robbo66 said:You had 2 clues about the tyres and seller, 1. the price £23 each and 2. the fact he doesn't accept paypal. Given that he only offers collection why did you not inspect the tyres before handing over the money
Also tyres collected in the evening, new with labels so never expected them to be 14 years old, and remember 3 mechanics looked at these tyres and could not see DOT date info, in daylight with a torch!!!
Only after 2 emails to Nokian customer support was it explained
I now know why but to be honest will not bother to explain on here
Ref eBay and Paypal, been on eBay for 15 years, over 2000 100% feedbacks, I am certain I know more than you how it works so don't really need advice from you... thanks.0 -
I dont understand why someone who has been in the motor trade for 50 years buys tyres at a suspicously low price from an unknown seller and then compounds it by not checking the date on the tyre when received, then complains when they turn out to be old and unusable after 6 months4

Not winter tyres at all and difficult to find.AdrianC said:There was no legal age limit for any vehicle at the time you bought "a few months" ago.
There is still no age limit for any vehicle in place as we write now.
When there is an age limit in place in a week's time, it will not restrict sale, just use.
When there is an age limit in a week's time, it will not affect tyres of the size and type you bought for the type of vehicle you bought them for.
I'd say "there is no limit" is a fair one-line summary of that situation, wouldn't you?
If you paid near the normal price for them, and they were advertised similarly to those ones, then I really wouldn't be shouting about that if it was me.
So what tyres (you said Nokian, but what model?), what size?
Given they're Nokians, I presume they were winters?
Who's shouting?
I just love trolls on forums... have a nice day.0 -
Ask AdrianC, he thinks he knows everything.KimJongUn88 said:
So where were the DOT codes located and what format were they in?diggingahole said:

But as already explained 3 people with over 100 years motor trade experience between them couldn't work it out or find the DOT date.
The answer is simple....., when you know the answer that is.

Your right... you don't understand and haven't read the factsphotome said:I dont understand why someone who has been in the motor trade for 50 years buys tyres at a suspicously low price from an unknown seller and then compounds it by not checking the date on the tyre when received, then complains when they turn out to be old and unusable after 6 months0 -
Clearly you do.diggingahole said:I just love trolls on forums...
Never has a poster named themselves so well.
So I take it we won't be getting the extra information on model and size of tyre?3 -
Not accepting Paypal is allowed in certain categories.Robbo66 said:

Seller is very clever, he normally doesn't state 'no Paypal', he says collection only and payment on collection.
Obviously buyers simply pay cash on collection not realising just how dodgy this guy really is.
With items he lists that state no Paypal he is actually breaking eBays selling regulations for majority of categories he is selling in, so I fully intend to report his listing0 -
Including you?diggingahole said:Seller is very clever, he normally doesn't state 'no Paypal', he says collection only and payment on collection.

And you didn't check the tyres over on collection, and realise that the ubiquitous manufacture date wasn't present, despite your many years in the motor trade?2 -
There you go again, ignoring what I have said to be an unhelpful troll.AdrianC said:

I have explained tyres had labels on, were not advertised as old stock, I explained how difficult it was to locate DOT date when condition of tyres perished to being dangerous after a few months, something no one had seen happen before, but suspect you will say you have
I also have not said date was not present, in fact I have said the opposite, hey but lets ignore that for you to continue life as a troll on here.0 -
So was there a bog-standard DOT date code on the tyres or not?
That, surely, is a simple yes or no...
Buying "new" tyres off somebody advertising them like that, the age'd be the first thing I'd check. In fact, I'd ask before even buying. My assumption would be that they were cheap because they were old stock.0
