(Help) Filling Station Filled Car With Diesel Instead Of Petrol

  • Was this in the USA? as Diesel nozzles in UK are larger than petrol so you would not be able to fit it in the petrol tank without a lot of force.
  • @bengalknights, you'd need more than brute force and no way could you do it on a garage forecourt.

I am sure there are now diesel pumps with a smaller diameter nozzle as I almost made the same mistake, (actually put the nozzle into the filler hole but noted before I pulled the trigger). Also our local garage is attendant only service...

I doubt it, as the OP refers to petrol, not gas. Most US dwellers wouldn't know what petrol was.
And he paid £10, not $10.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

He must be quite a regular at this filling station if he only buys a tenner at a time. That'll get you barely 1 3/4 gallons, in old money....
I don't buy this 'attended service during covid' line. Unless everyone pays with cash, they are still going to have to leave their car to pay, whether at the till or through a hatch. You can't legally use a battery operated card machine on the forecourt because it would technically be a fire risk, as is a mobile phone.
I'll believe this when the OP names and shames the station.
Maybe he moved to the US or Canada as part of a job relocation?? (!)
  • I very nearly made this mistake in the USA. Confusingly, the green hose was diesel and the black hose petrol.
