Last September I booked and paid for a holiday in Wales for September this year. Just hoping that will go ahead tbh! I do feel it should do, which would be great as it was a fab deal :)

  • I have lost a huge amount of money to Covid. Unfortunately the first thing I will have to do is 1.) Return to the UK, 2.) Spend a year re-saving. My first month of working in Japan I made more than 5X my rent just working in the McDonald's kitchen. Then Covid struck and I've been losing money/ treading water for the last year.  Just hope I can afford Mexican rents out of savings until it's over, otherwise I'll be homeless and destitute in an LEDC :/

I want to see Elton John in November...........  we'll probably be on lockdown 199 tier 92 and he'll decide to retire...... :s
I thought the tour that was cancelled halfway through was his final Tour as he was retiring?
Yes he is - but I'm just thinking that if it gets cancelled again - he'll retire anyway and not keep going :(
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

all though I did say in my original post 'all be it at the end of a very long tunnel'.
  • Regardless of when the lockdown ends, as soon has my mum and Dad have the vaccine (and waited the 3 weeks or whatever for maximum benefit), I will be going home, to spend a night or 2 with them, give them a hug and eat a meal together, and stay up late playing cards, board games, watching a film or whatever. They will have spent almost a year with no visitors, i am not making them wait any longer - its cruel to expect people to have been shielding to stay in lockdown after getting the vaccines, when they finally feel safe to go out or see their children and grandchilren
It is still unknown whether having the vaccine will stop you spreading the virus. So you could have the vaccine and still risk passing it on even though you yourself are protected. That is why the government want people who have been vaccinated to still comply with the restrictions, to protect those who haven't had the vaccine yet.

    Up to what point??

Until at least 70% of the population have been vaccinated?

When it finally happens, I'm going to visit all my friends in turn and give them a gigantic hug!
    It's not difficult!

So when does it all end then? The UK cannot continue destroying people's lives over this

Well considering that all the previous tightening and easing of restrictions were based on the trend of the amount of people with Covid Cases and the amount of people needing to go to hospital for Covid treatment.
So i imagine that this will continue to be the way it's done because if the vaccine works well then the number of people in hospital will drop significantly and the cases will show a downward trend.

I doubt they will ease restrictions based on the number of people vaccinated.
