Yes definitely! I'm not sure what a better wording would have been but that was clearly a poor one! It does feel, to me personally, like I would be doing the wrong thing if I bought a stash of supplies.
Maybe 'playing fair' might have been a better term to use...

    immoral in British English

    (ɪˈmɒrəl )
    adjective
    2.
    3.
    immoral trading
    4.
tending to corrupt or resulting from corruption
    an immoral film
    immoral earnings
I'm not corrupt, promiscuous, profligate, unscrupulous, unethical or sexually dissolute.

If I went shopping and would normally buy 2 of an item but there were only half a dozen left on the shelf, I'd buy just one.
I don't consider I'm stockpiling or building up a stash as I've not changed my shopping habits because of covid.

  • I suspect had I said "I feel that wouldn't have been playing fair" people would have accused me of calling them unfair all the same, sadly :/ With regards that list, the third one is the meaning I meant. It would be going against my personal ethics. Of course, that doesn't mean other people are going against their ethics - everyone's ethics will be different!

You might want to bend your ethics for a few of months and try and resupply once you get down to 10 rolls, then you will have a few weeks for them to come back into stock. Nobodies going to think your a horder.

But not through want of trying, eh? Lockdown does rather limit one's options.

Having posted many times over many years on this forum, I really think you're wrong.
I wouldn't have taken exception to being told I wasn't playing fair.
"Immoral" has a totally different connotation.
    And so does "unethical".

    It's a moneysaving website.
It makes sense to buy when offers are on - if you have the space to store it.
