Is it worth getting The American Casino guide for a solo traveller? 2 for 1 offers won't apply to me, I have a list of attractions I want to visit and compared 7 different sites - some a bit cheaper direct and some not, the list I have:
High Roller Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck Twilight Zone by Monster Mini Golf Real Bodies Shark Reef Aquarium SlotZilla Zipline Las Vegas Madame Tussauds Las Vegas Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Fantasy Lab Las Vegas Observation Deck Mat Franco The Hunger Games: The Exhibition
Would it have these in there, if anyone has bought The American Casino guide, or are the coupons mianly for food - but mid-high end cost anyway restaurants? I have only made 1 reversation at Virgil's Real BBQ - for my last day.
I'm tempted to just book all the above on Monday, just to get it out the way - got my days planned which direction to go each day from The Linq where I'm staying ,so can do them as they on that way on that day, no particular order
Day 1 - head north same side as The Linq
Day 2- head north opposite side
Day 3 - head south same as the The Linq
Day4 - head south opposite
Day 5 - Freemont street

Are you a MGM rewards member - some deals such as 50% off are available but sell out fast?
You also need to factor in the amount of walking to and from these attractions - you will be very tired very soon - but have a great time when you get there.0 -

Not a member but have the MyVegas app, wish I knew months ago, got 25,420 only so far.
Walking wise I have the distance, with the estimated time walking I'm trebling it, worse case Uber. :_)

Always wanted to go to Vegas! Looking at planning a holiday for around 5-6 mid 20 year old lads for around this time next year. Any suggestions as where are best places to go? How much should we be looking to spend/budget etc?0

Factor in travel to Heathrow or Gatwick?
Sometimes package deals through Expedia (other OTA are available) work out cheaper than booking the rooms yourself (unless you start playing My Vegas on Facebook and join MGM Rewards or Caesars)
How much money to take with you (or have available on cards etc) - how long is a piece of string - will you be eating at Johnny Rockets or Prime steakhouse??
Bit old in the tooth now for nightclubs but do not pay anyone for ''promotional'' clubs - they are expensive if you get a table and order drinks ($1000 is not unheard of!)
Places to go - do your research - try not to cram too much in - you will get tired you will walk miles to get from one hotel to the next.
You don't say how long your ideal trip would be but for me 9 days is the optimum break - normally with a day trip in the middle far away from the strip - maybe the Grand Canyon or Red rock.
There are tens of thousands of websites dedicated to Vegas - have a read , have a look at the nightly rate of the hotels BUT remember 99% of Vegas hotels charge a nightly resort fee of between $39 - $50. This you pay directly to the hotel when you check in.0 -

Thank you
I watched them and was very worried, but wasn't willing to lose £800 on flight to not go, staying at The Linq, 6th night here and it was not ruined my experience.
No problem for Uber from airport and same last night to freemont street and back.

Do not buy any alcohol in the hotel shop, shop at Walgreens, CVS
Expect to pay a good bit for alcohol outside happy hour, I paid close to £8 for a bottle of Coors light.

Walking wise, I thought I crammed too much - splitting South same side, opposite side, North same side and opposite. Reality, I didn't find I had enough time not to do them, I did. I walked to the Welcome to the Las Vegas sign, nice to stop and take photos. the only time I have used was for Freemont Street. Maybe because I'm mid strip I haven't found the walking to be that bad, see so much you dont realise.
Budget, whatever you think, triple it. work out how much you want to gamble each night and stick to it.
Women on the strip dressed as Police for photo - don't, you are expected to tip a lot.0 -
Happy 2024 folks! (...maybe we should just remove the '2021' from the thread title?)
So does anyone have any exciting trips planned this year?
I've given up on Vegas for now due to spiralling costs, but still see the odd thing pop up on Instagram etc that hooks my interest and I'm sure I'll get dragged back there again if the right deal comes (free flights and hotel would be a good start 🤣)0 -
We went twice last year and loved it having not been for quite a few years. Booked some flights to LA for later this month, just for a week and we were going to do a few days in Vegas with my two (grown up) boys, however even places like the Luxor were coming up at £700+ for three nights for one room, so we binned the idea and we’re going to New York and Boston. Still expensive but not as bad as that.Got quite a few other trips planned elsewhere in the world but we’ll leave Vegas and California for 2025.1
