What are the rooms like there ?…we have always stopped at Main Street Station for our Downtown Vegas part of trips.
But we have spent a lot more time gambling in El Cortez than MSS…so would be up for a change if anyone has positive opinions on the rooms at EC.
For our last trip back in December we stayed in the newly renovated "Original 47' rooms which are up a short flight of stairs right above the casino floor. The room was really nice, but the bathroom was a bit small. It was also quite nice to leave your room and be in the casino in under 30 seconds. 😁. Planning on staying in these rooms again this year.0 -

Photome….No we have never had comped rooms at MSS.
We used to get them comped when staying at The Orleans, but guess we never put enough through the machines in Main Street…you wouldn’t think it would take much to be comped the odd night there.
We have recently booked our first trip since 2019 and have 4 nights comped at Aria and 2 comped at Luxor..for some reason we don’t even have to pay the resort fee at Luxor, so with them giving us slot play and food and beverage credit, they are paying us to stop there😂
I’ll finally get to use the gems I’ve had for years on the Wynn Slots game for a couple of nights there..only the downtown weekend nights to choose, and we think we’ll go for the El Cortez for a change.
We had a companion voucher to use with Virgin..already lost one in the last year..so booked direct since they will start flying from Manchester again..Premium Economy out, and Upper Class back for £750 each plus points.
I have been reluctant to start travelling again after covid as I have an auto immune disease and have never felt “happy” about the prospect of catching covid…but as it happens I started to feel unwell earlier this week, and tested positive…so no need to “worry” about what if anymore.
I just received the Paxlovid antivirals from the hospital by courier tonight, so hopefully that will make a difference.
Providing I manage the covid alright, I’ll be kind of relieved really..we will be able to get our life back and start going places again.
I know a lot of posts on here have said about how expensive vegas has got, but to be honest, I’ll just be so pleased to travel again, I won’t really care…we’ll just take more cash to compensate.1 -

I also have some nights at Luxor with no other charges ,, are you sure the website has it correct though ?If it is right we have 12 nights comped next year.
4 at MSS with no extra charges , 3 at Luxor with no extra charges and then 5 at Caesar’s Palace with just resort fee to pay
we are flying BA business out and PE on way back for a bit more than you paid 😀, we prefer the best seats on way out as we sleep pretty much all the way back.
safe travels0 -
I agree, we would have preferred to have the better class of seating on the way out, but there was no option to purchase Upper Class on the date of departure with Virgin, so decided to get them coming back..at least I might get a bit of sleep for the first time ever on a transatlantic flight if I’m lying down.
I can only assume the totally “free nights” at Luxor must be correct. We booked Aria first, and it clearly stated total charges for resort fee..then when booking the Luxor the confirmation email shows room as comped, and resort fee as $0.00..so nothing to pay.
I fully understand people being fed up with how much costs have gone up in Vegas. But when rooms are comped for us, when we haven’t been in nearly 4 years, and we are anything but high rollers😂…I still think vegas is a good deal.

hey all...
I just got back yesterday from a week's trip....
We did Park MGM on Monday just gone to Friday.....
We had no issues.................. NOT !!!!!!!!
We stayed at the Plaza on Sunday night, got to Park around 1pm on Monday, little queue, nothing out of the ordinary..
About 5 peeps in front, then a guy comes to the queue, and says they got computer problems, and possibly need to wait 1hr or so to check-in...
Few peeps left the queue, i said to my 2 pals, lets give it 30 mins......
1:25pm, systems are back online, we get our 3 rooms, off to rewards desk, get my FP & RC loaded..
Out to pool for sun....
But..............
When we come down to the casino around 7pm, then we started to hear the news about stuff being shutdown, and me being me with the type of work i do, i figured there had been a comprimise somewhere....
Eventually rumours broke out about the ransomware, followed by the chaos!
Quite a few slots offline, all the card readers not working, TV's stopped working, parking barriers stopped working, doors, u name it, if it was networked, it stopped working!
Bill to room not working, no access to use myVegas rewards, etc etc etc....
Weds = bill to room started to work, free parking for all too !
We checked out on Friday, and the Card readers were still offline, so given the website login is still down, i would guess the card readers are too....
I know MGM still got there email offline..
I not had a bill for either of the rooms yet (mine was fully comped though) , and had billed to room on the Weds & thurs.
Its amazing how many systems they took offline, but then again, Ransomware is nasty stuffStayed at Riverside hotel in Laughlin on Friday night, were'nt bad, but would say Aquarius is the best of the 4 i stayed in down there2 -
I'm going to Las Vegas in about 3 weeks left to go
Was looking at tips to save money, came accross 2 things:
1. CNF fee - you can ask to remove it, does this work?
2. Charged to use a credit card, I know about the taxi - I will pay in cash or Uber - whichever is cheaper. Mainly resturants are charging fees for using the credit card, I have a Halifax Clarity Credit Card which I was hoping to use for everything - taking plenty of cash just for Casino. Any other ways to pay for food without cash and no card charges?0 -
1) I've never been charged this, though we've not been for a year now so will let someone else answer this one
2) I don't think restaurants charge fees for using credit card (I've never come across that anyways)... the only fee's I can think of are the bank providers fee's (Foreign Transaction fee's), which I think are free with clarity anyways?1
