Yorkshire Energy take over by Scottish Power
Hello. I recieved an email at the begining of December stating that YE was going into administration and that Scottish Power were taking over. Yet I still have not received a "Welcome Pack" or details of my tarrif. I spoke to Scottish Power this morning and they said the take over was still ongoing. Has anyone formally with YE completed their switch yet or are all former YE customers still waiting?
Thank you.
Thank you.

We are still waiting for the switchover. Received an email to say we would soon receive an email with details of how to set up an online account but still waiting. Sent meter readings but no idea what tariff we are currently on. We have built up a big credit which I want back ASAP but we are in limbo at the moment. I expect the longer it takes the more they can charge us on their top standard tariff. The regulator should make them honour the existing tariff until we are set up and have the opportunity to choose or move.1

Thanks jangolfI still have not heard anything and like you I am concerned that the longer it takes the higher our bill will be due to possibly being on an expensive standard tariff. I called customer services and was placed on hold for 20mins whilst the person who answered was "finding out what was happening".....only to be told what I already knew....that the transfer was in progress and to wait for the welcome pack!0

As JJEgan has linked above, there is extensive discussion about this in the Yorkshire Energy thread.SDSdav said:Thanks jangolfI still have not heard anything and like you I am concerned that the longer it takes the higher our bill will be due to possibly being on an expensive standard tariff. What SP are telling you is fairly irrelevant at this stage. If cost is your primary concern, start you switch asap.
By now, your switch to SP will be complete (beyond SP dicking around with their admin)
This shouldn't prevent you from moving at this stage. Remember your move is likely to take around three weeks too, so delaying is likely to lead to escalating costs. My farts hospitalize small children

@SDSdav If you read the thread linked in the first reply to you - all about SP taking over YE accounts, perhaps read only the last ~10 pages unless you want to read more, but you'll find plenty of people in the same boat, plenty who are switching/have switched and how they did/are doing it, what they've said to SP, what SP have said to them etc etc.

Join the club. I contacted Scottish Power yesterday and got a response from their third world based customer service centre that it would still take another two weeks to complete the transfer. Meanwhile, they gave me details of the 'Exclusive' tariff they have put YE customers on. It's extortionate. My estimate for a years energy from YE was £1350 for this year. SP's tariff add over £250 to that. No wonder they are so tardy. Can't wait to move onto another supplier with UK support and far cheaper prices. They are not doing anyone any favours taking on YE customers - but see it as an opportunity to make excessive charges.SDSdav said:Hello. Have you checked to see whether SP are listed as your energy provider on the National Gas and Electricity databases? If they are (and it seems for most people on here they are by now) then there's nothing to stop you starting a switch now.YorkieMan2 said:

I began a switch to Shell Energy as soon as I received the email from SP and informed SP that I had done so and would NOT be signing with them ! I discovered that SP would be charging DOUBLE my standing charge and 4p/unit more than YE. SP carried on sending me emails, telling me yesterday that they have set up an account for me ! I immediately called them and spoke to a useless CC person for an hour, who kept stating that it was OFGem who were responsible. I am now waiting for a Senior Advisor call on Friday ! In the meantime my switch is going through, but I will probably have to pay SP for about 6 weeks, even though I have screenshots of my emails stating that I did NOT want an account with them. Is this legal, I wonder ? YE owe me £100+ !!!0

Who did you think would be your supplier for the period between YE ceasing to trade and the date you started with Shell?Malcmandy said:I began a switch to Shell Energy as soon as I received the email from SP and informed SP that I had done so and would NOT be signing with them ! As above, you cannot avoid being a SP customer. YE ceased to be your provider on 6th December, so you were a SP customer from that date until whenever your supply start date with Shell Energy was.Malcmandy said:I began a switch to Shell Energy as soon as I received the email from SP and informed SP that I had done so and would NOT be signing with them !
