  • Good to read your diary, sounds like you're doing well. I relate to the emotional rollercoaster, feeling great one day for taking charge, then feeling rubbish the next day 'cos it's all going to take so long. My advice is...stick with it! It is so great to be debt free, you can do it!

What's happening with the car repairs? Does OH's insurance cover the £2k? Also, has OH paid the £335 or have you borrowed the cash and need to give it back at some point? Just a reminder to add it to the debt list if you have borrowed it. (Depressing, I know.) I was also thinking this might be a clue as to how the debt got so high in the first place. Running a car is expensive and car expenses need to appear in your budget.

    Good luck. I'm following along.

    Emergency fund £8,500/£8,500
    Mortgage overpayment £260

Thank you! Yes I think that's the issue it feels like it's going to take forever to repay the debts!

Yes his insurance covers the repairs so I don't have to worry about any of that. He paid £335 but he pays me £220 a month for rent and pet insurance so he said to just take the £220 from what I owe him and not pay that back if that makes sense? So all I owe is around £115 to him
We have our own cars so the reason I'm in debt is because I stupidly took out so many CCs and then took out loans thinking I could pay the CC back but never did ending in a never ending spiral of borrowing to repay and borrowing again. Stupid I know!!

But thank you for following along, I'm planning on paying off my one CC today so look out for my update post! I don't get paid until mid afternoon.

Hello! Yes I'm doing it now as we speak, wanted to go food shopping and make sure I stayed under the £100 budget! I spent £73 in total, so I can pay off one CC in full

Thank you, I feel better for it but it seems so much money. But one CC at a time I guess!
