I received my mortgage offer, took longer than expected but got there in the end  :)

5th May - full application submitted
    11th May - valuation
    27th June - offer received
  • I don't suppose anyone here on this forum is based in Bridgend area awaiting a mortgage offer - long shot just trying to ascertain if the purchasers at the bottom of my particular chain have had any luck?

Did you get the update as promised? We're still waiting as well, application sent 26/05, broker sent docs 14/06, spoke to them yesterday and was told it will be another 15 days from the date they requested additional docs on the 20th. Just reading on the Halifax timescale forum and cant believe how quick offers are coming through, one was even done in a day. Come on Natwest, for goodness sake...
  • 17th June - Offer accepted
21st June - Application sent and approved by broker
30th June - In-person valuation scheduled for this morning .. trying to patiently wait for results  :D

How long have people waited to hear back?

FTB - 5% deposit, permanent FTE

They informed the broker they had until end of Olay yesterday… and at the end of the day they asked for business accounts 😞 broker replied straight back telling them Hubbie uses the personal accounts already supplied, but I guess we are waiting again. Surely this should have been asked for during pre-underwriting if it was a genuine request, but all they requested then was SA100’s. Seems like a time delay tactic. Totally peeved now. Working day 25 today and not even a valuation date.

We had the exact same situation with ours!  Ours was 32 working days from application to offer received, 30 if you take out jubilee weekend.  They kept asking over and over for a business bank account statement.  In the end the broker said he got on the phone to them, sat in the queue for however many hours and finally managed to speak to someone and told them the current account provided is used for business purposes and they finally accepted it.  I suspect NatWest have it partially automated and their system flagged it wasn’t a business account so kept sending through a request for a business bank account.

Our survey was instructed pretty quickly, I think it was 10 days later, but was in person as our house didn’t have a whole lot to compare to (rural location, two bed bungalow, sw facing garden etc).  As it happened a house about 6 doors down from us was up for sale when they came to view and the surveyor mentioned it at the time, so I think they partially compared them before deciding on a value for ours.

    Hope you hear back soon!

Thank you, that’s useful to know. Hopefully we are getting there. The service levels are very misleading and disappointing. I was advised NatWest would only be around 3 weeks all in, and would have opted elsewhere if I’d known. Hopefully all goes well as i don’t think the vendors would wait if we had to apply elsewhere.

Our broker called me 2 weeks later to confirm that the valuation had come back at the amount we had offered.  When the surveyor came, he told us we'd hear back within a week.

I’m guessing with SE cases they valuation is only ordered when everything else looks ok?
