will certainly consider one when there's a decent sized estate option with a good spec for under 20K
MG may have the solution, two model choices may make it if you consider pre-reg, or negotiate discount.  I have heard on this forum mention of people being successful with "offers" from MG, but I have no first-hand experience or knowledge.
Autotrader has 47 MG EVs 2020 year listed at <£20k.

The MG5 is a reasonably sized estate car although the boot opening is slightly on the small side and the angle of the rear seats limits what will fit alongside passengers. The basic 'Excite' model is available for under £20k if you qualify for their 'affinity scheme' (keyworkers/teachers etc) or just haggle.

Used EVs are likely to hold their value as demand massively outstrips supply. I was originally planning to pick up a used Leaf 40 once second hand prices dropped to a sensible level, but they're still around £17k at 3 years old.

The offers on the MG EV's don't seem quite as generous this month as they were recently with the "scrappage" marketing scheme.  The current marketing scheme of big discounts for NHS, police, ambulance seems very focused and could alienate a large proportion of the potential customer base.

I never understand why car makers go for the complex list price - big discounts as all it does it create poor residuals (which are reported by the motoring press against list rather than actual price) and devalues the brand.

The £4k trade up offer is still there, and additional discounts are negotiable.

Thanks Petrix - I see the offers are on individual dealer sites, not the main MG website.  Emergency Services offer is keener than the trade up offer (for those that qualify).
I can see MG as becoming the "affordable" EV and TESLA for the "premium" EV.
