Our nearest Ikea is Nottingham I think............have to have a re-think and maybe go for using my old coffee jars with a fabric top.

Found a site www.allfreecrafts.com that had a 'gifts in a jar' section........particularly liked one for a Hot Chocolate mix, various soups etc. Looked easy to do (have to be for me..........lol) and useful plus being cheap. Worth a look for a few ideas. There's all sorts of other craft ideas on there as well that I haven't really looked at properly.

Your previous post that mentioned the above website is where I got the idea to do bath salts in a jar - I've already bought/ ordered everything I need and can't wait to get started. Thanks mary43 for posting such a great site! Good luck with your gifts in a jar!!!

It's on the 19th - think the stores are opening at 6am or something. Bet it will be manic but everything has 21% off so maybe worth the HUGE queues!

Need to pick some brains...............what can I do with six really small red flowerpots ? They're made out of plastic and I got them for OH to start off some poppy seeds. The seeds have grown like mad and been transferred to bigger pots before they go into the big wide world.
So, I'm left with the little pots..............haven't the heart to throw them away (obviously...........lol) can't put candles in them as they're plastic but there must be some little gift I can concoct..................don't say make sweets cos me and cooking don't get on...............lol

mary - sorry I'm going back to the champagne glass...........have you considered scrunching up some cellophane and stuffing in the top? I've got some with white dots on that could look like bubbles on the top IYSWIM

Sometimes it's cheaper to throw them away Mary!

I started to type....how about putting some packets of poppy seeds inside, with a pair of gardening gloves, with a etc etc etc all wrapped up with the famous cellaphane and there's a gardening gift. But just how much would that little lot cost? LOL.......bin them!! LOL.

savvy - |I've got some spotted cellophane but was trying to keep the whole thing 'gold' if you know what I mean and just happened to find a gold scrunchie and gold bath pearls..........now I wondering whether the gold scrunchie would look right on top of the pearls...........might try the cellophane

rose_sparky - I'm doing baskets for pressies -christmas and birthdays and thought I could add something in a little pot because they're red.
Now OH has just brought in some more little pots, bit taller but still very small in the plastic terracotta. I nearly made a gardening hamper for ex foster girl this year for her birthday as she's just moved to a lovely cottage with large garden but did something else instead and I've already got her christmas one sorted. But I could do a gardening one for her for next year.........pair of gloves, few packets of seeds, gardening journal (got one I haven't used yet) and some gardeners hand cream and that would be next years birthday for her sorted........................crikey, hows that for forward planning.........lol

Unless someone can come up with something else.
I just can't throw them away............the minute I do either I'll think of a brilliant idea or someone else will..............lol

No I haven't seen them yet either at Morrison. I thought that after the Easter stuff was cleared they would put the cupcake stuff on the shelves but it is all garden stuff now. I can't wait to see it too....

I was in my local Morrisons this evening (Leyland) and they had the new range in. It is called Fairy Cake, pink background. There was a small tray, a large tray, set of 3 cannisters and a set of 3 tins for putting cakes in. I think I saw some coasters but I didn't see any mugs.

either a gift for a little one with seed packs, gloves and child size tools or could you make a door wreath with a gardening theme - bits n pieces wrapped with florist wire and moss?

My son bought me a little wall decoration once that had tiny terracotta pots, some lolly sticks that had wire stringing them together to look like a picket fence & a couple of pretend seed packets laid onto moss and tied with a green & white gingham bow - it was lovely for the garden room.

On Blue Peter once, they made windchimes attaching mini flowerpots (although they were terracotta) to 2 thick branches crossed over and tied together with wire then covered with twine. We decided to have a go so I got everything we needed, had all the bits on the table ready and then the children decided that they wanted to make Christmas bells instead by spraying the pots gold and adding half lolly sticks with ferrero rocher wrappers scrunched up into balls for the clappers. :D
