Mary have you thought about the window gelly things (don't know what else to call them!) they come in different shapes and sizes and you might get one to fit your glass. Internaconale or similar usually sell them for about £2 a pack and as they are sticky it might help hold 'champers' in.

Sorry if my explanation isnt very clear lol they are for window decoration and stick to the window pane and come in all different colours

rosekitten - looks like I'll have to checkout where out nearest Home Bargains shop is. They do seem to have a lot of 'bargains'. Like the look of the muffin trays..........good idea for christmas.

SmoSmo - thanks for that idea. Have to check out where out nearest Au Nateral (oops spelt that wrong) is...........our town is so small and limited and everything else is about 20 miles away............lol
Might have found a solution but haven't tried it yet. I was sorting out a load of photos yesterday........some of the albums were past their sell by date but I did salvage some of the see through sheets that were in them. They're flexible enough to squeeze through a narrow opening I think and might -just might, hold the 'champers' in place.I'll try another day and see.

Just a musing here, but if you wrapped the 'champers' loosely in cling film first, would that hold them in the glass?

I've got a raspberry red flannel to make a 'vanilla' swiss roll for 'her' & the stuff to make a choccie version for 'him'; coloured flannels 69p ea in Wilkos & have a cute little embroidery on one corner; pack of five white flannels 95p ea also in Wilkos.

Like the idea with the huge muffin cake:D I'm getting back into baking too, so now I've gotta look at everything in totally different mind-sets
    baking; crafting; hamper;
do I really need more excuses to go shopping:p

BMF............the bath pearls/crystals (not quite sure which they are) are already wrapped in cellophane and I tried putting them in like that but didn't like how it looked........too many creases showed up............knowing me and cling film the same thing would happen, only worse...................lol

Oh, does anyone know the cheapest place for kilner jars, or something similar ? I want to do some 'gifts in a jar' ..........I could use old coffee jars I know but I think the old fashioned preserving style jars would lookbetter if the price is right.

  • Coffee jars would look nice if they had a red/white gingham top with "pinked" the edges.

I seem to have given the world and his wife flannel muffins and now looking at the pretty (and cheap) tea towels in the shops. Any ideas what we could do with these?

    There's an apron here http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.0e0eb51a2e6b5ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=e8e12e912b11f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&autonomy_kw=tea%20towel%20apron&rsc=header_1

you could also make cafe curtains or a set of coasters or a hot-pot stand - especially good at Christmas lined with cinnamon; when the heat permeates the cloth, lovely spicy smell waft up :)

I bought some lovely jars from Ikea (thanks for giving me the idea to go here rose_sparky) at the weekend to do the same thing mary43. The ones I bought were around £2 each. I am planning to get some Epsom bath salts & colour and fragrance them (lemon oil) and pop them in the jars with maybe some fabric on top or something. I saw some tiny scoops in Au Naturel ages ago so hope they still have them as they'd be perfect to add to the jar. Might try some cookie mixture ones as well.

I bought jars as didn't have any (don't really drink coffee in this house!) but I think recycling ones you already have is a fab idea.

What are you looking at putting in your jars?

Could you wrap some little kitchen themed things (or some of your lovely cupcakes!) in a tea towel and tie at the top - sort of make a tea towel sack - does that make sense?

Our nearest Ikea is Nottingham I think............have to have a re-think and maybe go for using my old coffee jars with a fabric top.

Found a site www.allfreecrafts.com that had a 'gifts in a jar' section........particularly liked one for a Hot Chocolate mix, various soups etc. Looked easy to do (have to be for me..........lol) and useful plus being cheap. Worth a look for a few ideas. There's all sorts of other craft ideas on there as well that I haven't really looked at properly.
