Hi everyone, just want to say how much I love all the lovely things you people make on here, I especially love the cupcakes lots of you have been making, I do have a question for you though, they look like they would work with those fluffy socks you can buy, has anybody tried to make them using socks, if any of you have could you let me know how it went as im sure fluffy socks would go down great with my teenage daughter.
Thanks in advance.
Using socks, what a great idea! I'm going to give that a go - thanks!!! If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
mumoftwo and rosekitten - love the new cupcake cases on ebay. Really shouldn't buy anymore as have lots left to use but they are lovely...
Has anyone used square cases? I wondered if you could roll a flannel and put it on it's side so looks like a slice of swiss roll??? They have these on dotcomgiftshop. May have to get some square ones and have a go. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I was going to say that.(see above)
All these look fantastic, I wish I was better at these things. I,m going to give it a try though, it might keep my hands too busy to smoke.
Give it a go I say!!! You'll be so chuffed with yourself that you are making your presents. Let us know how you get on, with pics!!! :rotfl::wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
I love those new cases with the hearts and and the idea for using fluffy socks is great as this will appeal to teenagers more than the flannels.0

Ooh....sock cakes! Ideal for men cuz you don't have to give them a pink flannel:T
Still thinking about my 'bouquet'.....must get practising too tho. Or perhaps I'll do a dozen cupcakes instead:idea: if it's too fiddly. WooHoo:j Baldrick is alive & well in my brain!! A cunning plan indeed;)
I saw your comment about using acetate PrincessPP, & thought perhaps making the box in card, but having one or two 'windows' might help? You know what's going to happen now duncha....I'll get a roasting from the offspring cuz of even more of "mum's rubbish" taking over the house:o Where do you folks store your goodies?

Hi BigMummaF, my 'stuff' is all over my house!!! Don;t get my OH started on that one please! So wish we had a spare room but we don't. Currently have 'goodies' in the wardrobe in our bedroom, on the floor in our bedroom in boxes, on top of DS1 wardrobe, top of unit in living room, in a big drawer in the living room, in the garage...such a messy way to be, everything needs a proper sort out. Maybe a job for the BH weekend? Or maybe not as we just got back from a week in beautiful Cornwall and I have an enormous pile of washing to wade through and rain is forecast here all weekend :undecided:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Hi just to say I've had a go at a sock cupcake
. Looks quite good I think. Haven't taken a photo yet but when I get the chance I'll add one to show you. I found some stripey fluffy slipper socks in a Somerfield (think it may have been a shared shop with Peacocks?) on holiday this week. They were £2 and pretty. Will post photo over w/end.
Voila, a sock cupcake...
The sock slippers were fluffy but quite thin so it was easy to roll and pop them into a case. Going to have a look around for other socks and tempted to get some of the new cases shown on here. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

that looks really good and if like me
anyone who gave cupcakes out as
gifts last Christmas and did not want
to give the same twice this lets you
give again to the same people.Plus
in the Summer months you often see
this type of sock reduced in the sales.
I really like this.thanks for posting this
and you in our little hall of fame on the
front page along side tab1967 who made
the suggestion earlier in the thread, hope
thats ok ?

where we saw the origional cakes
just to see whats on there these days
they have newer examples for sale
so below are pics of them, that lollypop
looks cute.

ROSEKITTEN:
I have just returned from the usa and unfortunately I am without the cellophane bags you asked for.
I have been there for 4 weeks and in total i have been in 7 dollar tree shops as well as other dollar shops BUT could not get hold of the bags that are heated and sealed with a hairdryer. the nearest i could find were just the small bags which would only fit one cupcake, but at $1 each i thought they would work out pretty expensive...
sorry
