  • So £9.90 spent yesterday for holiday clubs. I have loads of childcare vouchers left over form last year due to home schooling so the total cost of the holiday clubs was £324.00 but I only had to pay £9.90 as you could not pay 100% with vouchers. Who know if they will run given the current climate! But fingers crossed as by April I will be getting my hair out!
I also have a credit for a weeks booking in the summer due to Corona virus, so holiday camps should all be 'free' this year.
Shopping came and was £88.00, this is under budget for us, so just hoping it actually lasts a week. Looks like all the deliver slots are gone again..grr...
So I'll have to find time for a lidl shop each week. On the plus side I have the Lidl app and that saves you £12 if you spend £200 a month which will always do.
Hope everyone is doing well. Counting the days until payday so that the overpayment can be made!
  • NSD day 2 of the week.
Food is running low already. No more eggs, cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan or pasta left. Going to have to be a bit creative with the meals for the rest of the week. Think I need to be realistic that with everyone at home food bill will need to be at least £100 a week. Really don't know how some people spend so little!
Today felt a little easier despite a huge amount of online lessons. I think the key is setting myself small goals. My main one is 10k steps a day and no snacking between meals. So far so good!
    Stay safe everyone x
  • Had an x-ray for my knees yesterday, incredibly high tech machines which zipped across the room and up and down! We had run out of bread so I nipped to m and s on my way home. They had loads of yellow sticker items so I bought some treats for everyone - chopped up fruit, carrots and homous pots etc as they were all very cheap. The only Jon yellow sticker item was the bread! I guess less people are going to the shops at the moment hence the reductions. It is a shame I don't live closer as I know that if you go about two hours before closing things get reduced even further.
Have some Christmas money to spend and I think I'm going to buy myself a new coat. It is tempting to use it as an overpayment but I'm on track with my budget so I think I'll treat myself.

  • So I spent the Christmas money and had enough for a coat and a jumper. Who know if I will like them but there is free returns so all good. Felt odd spending so much money, but it was a gift and I think there needs to be joy in this mortgage free quest! Plus it is artic out there so hopefully the delivery isn't too slow!! All my other coats aren't really warm enough for these daily walks!
I have now done 10k for the past 7 days, aiming to do it everyday. Trying to give myself just small health goals so I actually achieve them!
Itching for it to be payday so I can make an overpayment, feels like this month is going so slowly!
    Xx
  • Just looked at mortgage interest, why does it vary a little each month when we are on a fixed rate? Some months a little less, some months a little more? I would get it if it decreased a little each month but sometimes it goes up too? Sorry if I am being dense!
Interest this month was £493.79 ugggggggggghhhh!! So approx £15.93 a day. This is a figure I really want to see come down. I'm hoping the overpayments can attack this.

It could be that it's calculated daily and some months have more days?
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • Thanks @South_coast that would be logical but December was lower than January so I'm not sure that is it. Bizzare!

Hmm, no idea then! I have a savings account for my niece and that's the same, the interest added is often lower than the previous month, despite the fact that money (and interest) is added every month so the balance is only going up 🤔!

  • Just had a search  @South_coast and you were basically right!  It is the number of days in the month but apparently it is also affected by when the direct debit is taken, if that fell on a weekend, so payment not taken, bank holidays etc...
  • So much spending of late!
Bathroom products almost all ordered. This was 1000s but all budgeted for. Plumber should be here in two weeks. Need to sort an electrician tomorrow for the lights. Fingers crossed one of them can fit the job in.
Car insurance was £327. Renewal was £400 but a phone call later and voilà £73 pounds saved!
Few other little things such as violin music book 🎻 for DD so a bit spendy all in all!
However budgets are all in track. Just over a week to pay day and official regular overpayment no 1.
