It took me two minutes to find the latest pdf document and find the university section and a further minute or two to read it. It’s there for anyone to view. He can’t be expected to read off 22 pages of guidance on the TV.
And that isn't what I said he should do.

By not mentioning universities at all. To find out that universities are online until mid-February, students have to look through some document on the government website.
Shocking, University students in having to read legislation and guidance shocker!
Shockingly University Students are expected to do some research!! One of the skills needed at University and part of the "experience".
So Boris has provided a much need teaching opportunity!

Our future business leaders. God help us. Must be a first world problem if everything in life is meant to be "experience".

From my direct experience, students do not need to seek out any information. There is a huge amount of messaging going out to students on arrangements for their courses. I'm staff, and frankly am getting sick of seeing the messaging targeted to us. I'm concluding the OP is not a student, or at least not a student who checks their University Email on a regular basis. If that is not enough for students/staff then there is also the pages and pages of tailored information available on their Universities Webpage.

They want to be treated as adults - then they need to act and behave like them.

As already mentioned, plenty of info out there, they need to stop expecting to be spoon fed

Maybe stop to think that your experience isn't the same for everyone. There are vast numbers of students on social media who have said they have heard absolutely nothing from their uni for weeks.

I doubt any of you acting like students are being lazy or selfish or anything like that actually understand what students are currently going through. A simple look at social media would instantly show the incredibly poor way students have been treated.

Paying for accommodation they are being told to stay away from.
Paying for low-quality teaching and not a lot of help from staff.
    Limited access to facilities.
Online services being unavailable for vast amounts of time.
    Staff being unavailable for weeks.
And let's not forget how students in halls were treated in unis like Manchester.

What are students actually paying for? Watching videos, which in some cases have been made many years before? Accommodation they aren't meant to go back to? Lecturers and teaching staff which give sarcastic and unhelpful responses, if they bother to reply at all?

Obviously, not all universities and staff are like this. Some will be doing there absolute best, but it seems extremely poor that so many students are paying for a substandard quality of university.

@Lightning360 Make your mind up is it the governments fault or the Universities?  Or is it just everyone's but the students?

Both the unis and the government are at fault. It should not be students being punished for this.

Everyone is being punished due to Covid, life is unfair.

And this is the most selfish response yet.

It's essentially "I have to suffer so those students have to as well".

People are being punished due to Covid, but a lot of people are getting support. Not students though.
