Is your relative in private student accommodation if there’s a charge for cleaning the kitchen? Any grievance needs to be taken up with them.
Having said that, cleaning up after themselves is a good life skill to learn and at least then they know what standard it is being done to.And students were meant to be going back this week - the decision to delay their return until the end of January has only just been made in the light of recent infection rates. It’s not all part of a cunning plan to do students out of their cash - it’s an ever changing situation with everyone involved still playing catch up.
FWIW my relative is very disappointed not to be going back this week. It may not be what he was expecting but he does feel he is still benefitting and learning,All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

My Husband started uni in September, it's not the experience he had hoped for but the course is still being delivered effectively He was looking forward to some social interaction after being a stay at home Dad for 10 years. We don't have the accommodation issues that other students may have but we can't really fault the efforts the lecturers put in.
As he hasn't been to uni before he has nothing to compare it too, given the circumstances I'm not sure what else they could do to change, just because things are being done differently it doesn't necessarily mean it's being done cheaper.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

I have no time for Johnson, I consider it a national misfortune that in the gravest period for decades we have the worst PM and government for decades, but you are clutching at straws here. Are you seriously saying that students aren't able to find the relevant information within a matter of minutes on a very clear, easy-to-find and easy-to-navigate website?3 -
It took me two minutes to find the latest pdf document and find the university section and a further minute or two to read it. It’s there for anyone to view. He can’t be expected to read off 22 pages of guidance on the TV.4
