IrishSean, I imagine homeschooling takes up a fair chunk of time! Though very jealous of your M&S cocktails...
And Fidelia, hope you managed your NSW!
I'm up to £46.25 woo! More than 10% of my hopeful total for the year :)
Haha, homeschooling 4 is a head-wrecker! They just aren't motivated; it feels like a long Christmas hol to them😂.
Tidying a few pounds each night is much easier as I make the money move request and it doesn't refuse because:
It hasn't had breakfast, snack, lunch, afternoon snack or 1 of 15 bathroom breaks
It just has a few minutes of 'daily dose of internet' left
It was just 'looking something up' on facebook when I walked in
It was 'just putting the David Walliams book away...'
    😂😂😂

😂😂😂pipeline which I'll add before the monthe end.
IrishSean, you have my utmost admiration and commiserations for homeschooling 4 !   I have 4 children myself but all are grown up and now working  far from here.  2 are married with young children of their own who as yet are too young for homeschooling .  It was hard enough keeping all our 4's minds  on track with anything for long when they were all still at home so I dread to think the disaster homeschooling would have been for their education and my sanity !  I think your M&S tipples were very well-earned.

No tidying to add but some in the pipeline which I'll add before the month end.

  • Hi  - I love the idea of this but not quite ready to join in as I am usually in an overdraft each month - HOWEVER - I just started a DMP and keeping a tight track on my budget and this month may be the first month that I end up with a ++ balance before payday yay!  So hope to join you from the end of Feb/beginning of March.  I check my bank account daily anyway (in the morning so I can update YNAB) and this will just keep the motivation up.

Welcome and well done on starting a DMP.  Entering into one  was the best financial decision I ever made and I've been happily (but still frugally by choice) debt-free since mid 2019.  Wishing you every success on your journey to debt freedom.

…..Likewise if your daily tidy is to the nearest £5 in your current account, some days you'll have pence, others you'll have £4 something. The average will work out £2.50 per day so year end you'll have close to £2.50 X 365 or £912.50.....

I'm trying to tidy to the nearest £5 but on the rare occasions I feel flush I might tidy to the nearest £10.  Ever the optimist LOL.  Is it OK to combine the two or will it mess up your monthly summary of how we're all doing?

Just added £7.26 from 2 little tidies.  Total now £63.12 but still a bit shy of the £2.50 average. Hopefully a bit more to come before month end.

Whatever ppl can afford each month & day of the month. I think keeping any regular saving going is a good thing for us all; if tidying is a conduit for that then: happy days😊

I see some ppl doing 1p challenge & reverse 1p challenge. As ML said last Thur its whatever works for you.

The goal of tilly tidy, as I see it, is to 'loose change' what you have and have a nice pot at the end of the year without really a) missing what u put in or b) relying on it for something important.

It's your own wee savings programme running in the background. When it comes to Christmas or year end and you want to treat yourself or pay a chunk off debt as say 'free payments' in Dec 21 / Jan 22 then 👍👍 all good.

Total updated to £10.84 for January.  I am only tidying the pennies in my Monzo account which is my spending pots and personal spends.  Just rounding down so every pot ends in a nice round 0.

A quick update.  Tidied £5.40 from 2 barely used savings pots just to give nice round figures in them.  Might close both and just stick to one Tilly pot, otherwise I'm confusing myself for laughably little interest made

Just posted a little update and it disappeared!  Added a measly £1.70 which brings my total for Jan to £70.22.  there might be a teeny bit more to come but as my internet banking goes into hibernation over the weekend I won't be able to update with a final score until early Monday morning.  I hope that's OK, Sean.

Have a good weekend, everyone.  Happy saving.

Happy weekend everyone! I've just moved a few refunds into my tidying pot bringing me up to £266.70 for Jan!! Very chuffed but must try and remember not to be cross when the following months aren't anywhere near that

Wow, Starla!  What a result.  Well done.  I'm hoping future months will be better for me and that this month's total isn't the best I can do.  I don't think I'll ever manage to tidy anything like £266 though.
