People just like using the word scam to try and explain something they don’t like.2

Sorry for being a bit vague... Our County Council charges £5 for a bus pass - whether OAP or Disabled. My bus pass will enable me to get virtually outside the nearest store; I will no longer have to pay more for waiting up to a week for goods to arrive (with fingers crossed they are not faulty). Several people I know when returning faulty goods purchased online at SD have had the reason for return incorrectly recorded as "Changed Mind" to get out of their legal responsibility to reimburse postage both waysSorry for being a bit vague... I do not blame the staff, this is obviously 'an instruction from above'; break the law & what is the customer going to do about it? I genuinely believe it is morally wrong to charge more online than in the store. The costs on internet sales are considerably less those through the stores (less staff, running costs etc).
Yes, I did say around 2 years ago I would never shop online at SD again BUT when 'high risk' for Covid, with a dependant with a multitude of difficulties (been turned down for PIP, but got high care & mobility under DLA, but that's another story...) I do a few gardening jobs to try to make ends meet but take exception to be taken for a ride by a major (imo corrupt) retailer. Rant over

Sorry for repeat above, blame the cut & paste on PC0

I have had the problem of 2 for £6 but in store. Didn't notice at the till but on checking next door having a coffee saw that I had been charged £4 x2.
Took the items back to the till - no drama at all I was refunded the difference.0 -

And why is it morally wrong? Why shouldn't a retailer charge more online than in store? They may have good reason to do so, perhaps to drive footfall in their stores because they know they get more impulse sales that way? Or perhaps a retailer prefers in-store retailing, accepts the expectation of an online presence nowadays but wants to make a bigger margin online to subsidise in-store retailing? Perhaps some retailers are fed up with people browsing their store, phones in hand, handling the items then buying online where it's often cheaper, so they have all the costs of running a store with none of the income.
If you don't like their business model, shop elsewhere. It's not as if there's a shortage of online places to buy walking shoes.1 -
First you knew one person who didnt get postage refunded, now its several. Why did you buy if you knew all these people having issues? You select your own reason for return when sending back btw.
None of this is a scam, but I'd suggest you stop shopping with companies that you clearly dislike and distrust instead of just going to their shop instead.1 -

In the size you want. It's more than likely that the 2 pairs of walking boots you bought online wouldn't have been available in your local store.sheilamoose said:A friend has just returned some new, unused, faulty trainers purchased online & they refused to refund the postage as they had entered "customer changed mind" as reason for return & they said they were not therefore responsible for the return postage costs!!!
You said this ^^^^ in your first post which sounds like it was the customer at fault but below you're implying that SD are actually changing the reason for return to avoid paying postage:sheilamoose said:Several people I know when returning faulty goods purchased online at SD have had the reason for return incorrectly recorded as "Changed Mind" to get out of their legal responsibility to reimburse postage both ways.sheilamoose said:I genuinely believe it is morally wrong to charge more online than in the store. It is you as the customer who chooses whether to pay the in-store price, online price or vote with your feet and shop elsewhere.0
