My Champagne moment yesterday was having the courage to get up and dance with some of the other women in Music Appreciation yesterday. Everyone enjoyed slices of the cake, one woman had 3 slices and so the cake did not go to waste.
Thank you Ladies for your lovely comments. I am so proud of my son, as he really is so kind and caring.
He has also adopted my money saving ethos. He has managed to save £9,500 while he has been at University. He has completed his Degree even though his learning has been largely online for the last 2 years of his Degree, yet he buckled down to his assignments and exams without moaning.I gave my son £100 to go and buy himself new high top trainers for one of his birthday presents from me. He went to Sports Direct and got himself the new high tops for only £23 and promptly gave me the £77 change when he got home.
His Father has never been a part of his life, having chosen to disappear after I told him I was pregnant, so I can take all of the pride in my son's academic achievements and the fact that he has turned into such a lovely young man.19 -
Well Sugarbaby.....I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. He is a credit to you. I have always said "better no man than the wrong man". You have every right to feel proud of your clever, handsome son.Hello Lovely Ladies.....,
life here is pretty good at the moment. Lots of lovely champagne moments with friends and family. Still living quietly. No holidays planned. I can wait until the time is right. As you know it's my big birthday next week. Next Tuesday.I have had a raft of tests and check ups. I am pleased to announce that apparently I'm in very good nick.😂🤣. I feel good too, much better now that I'm exercising daily. Daily exercise has given me a real energy boost. More importantly my pain levels are much reduced. I should have got on that bandwagon years ago but never mind, it's never too late to turn over a new leaf.So.....I feel that I shall be starting my next decade from a good place. Thanks mum and dad for the good genes. 😁. But of course I'm not going to rest on my laurels. I have no intention of squandering my amazing genetic inheritance. I shall up the exercise, continue with the healthy eating, vitamins etc. I want to end my 70s pretty much as I begin them, if not even better. I want to be as healthy for my 80th birthday as I will be for my 70th!!!! Maybe its a big ask but I think it's a goal well worth aiming for.I want and intend to live a looooong and healthy life........I am so not done yet. Ha ha.
It's all a far cry from my 60th birthday.......I was my husbands full time carer, I was exhausted, ill, stressed beyond belief and staring bankruptcy in the face. I felt burnt out and utterly defeated. I was in a long dark tunnel with hardly a glimmer of light or hope. Looking back I'm not sure how I survived the last decade, let alone having come out better than I began it. Sheer bloody mindedness I guess. Lol.My husbands death, closely followed by my parents, 4 house moves, 2 bad car crashes......... but I refused to be beaten. With every set back I came out fighting. I refused to give up. But I didn't do it alone - I have my husband to thank. Even post death he has been there for me......his memory spurring me on. My promise to him to live the best life I can. My boys were there for me, my friends too, both in real life and my online friends. So I thank you all for your patience, support and friendship. It all just goes to show that the old adage is true. Persistence does indeed pay off and also what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. We should never give up, never lose sight of our dreams. I know I won't. I have some new goals and some fresh targets for the next decade. Plenty of plans, plenty of schemes.Watch this space........😂🤣Of course the last decade also had its share of high spots, my sons meeting their partners, the births of my grandchildren, my little adventures and solo holidays. But I've barely scratched the surface........There's still more good stuff to come and I intend to make the most of any opportunity that comes my way.My primary objective will be to be the healthiest, fittest and strongest I've ever been so I can live my best life ever. So that I can say a big YES to joy, life, fun and adventure.Tomorrow I'm having a massage, Friday a hair cut. Going into the city for that so I might just have a mooch round the shops whilst I'm at it. See if I can snaffle some bargains, maybe treat myself to lunch.Hemingway said "the world is a mighty fine place". I so agree. Covid permitting I'm going to get out there and grab everything it has to offer.Heres to my next decade. 🥂.17 -
What a brilliantly positive, n inspirational post LL .It's given me a virtual boot up the bum, which was much needed 🤣🤣🤣
SUGAR, you're Son sounds like such a lovely lad, all credit due to You x"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I totally agree Candygirl about LL's post.
LL it is so good to know that you are feeling so much healthier and positive as you approach your 70th. I hope you have a really great day with your family.

Have had some eye tests this week. Yesterday the diabetic eye clinic......eyes are healthy, no worries there.But....I had noticed some slight blurred vision so went to the opticians today. Apparently my distance vision has actually improved and my prescription is now slightly too strong. Lol. Have chosen some new frames from Glasses Direct for home trial to see which ones I fancy. I have used them before and been very happy. I can get two pairs for less than half the price of one pair from the optician. Crazy.Apparently my incipient cataracts have grown a little since last time but still not enough to warrant removal. He reckons about 4 to 5 years before surgery will be necessary.Don't fancy it much😂🤣. But at least theres no need to worry yet.4

just catching up, had a busy week. The Higher trapp is lovely Candy girl. Sugarbaby, lovely celebrations, you must be so proud of your Son.. LL thank you for your kind words. Tomorrow it will be 2 years since I lost my Husband. Still feel lost. But like you say life must go on, make the most and all that. Had 2 40 length swims this week and a walk with mountaineering group, just short of 5 miles, a bit hilly in places but lovely all the same.

Hugs to you Sheila, grief is never easy, but eventually as the years go by it becomes a bearable part of our lives. I love that Tesco lemon drizzle cake, although I also love the Lidl one and it costs a lot less.4
