My Champagne moments this week:
On Wednesday afternoon, I went to see The Crucible at The National Theatre. It exceeded all of my expectations; it was just incredible. It moved me to feel just about every emotion possible. It was a 10/10 for me.I got a ticket worth £66 for only £6.50
On Thursday afternoon, I went to see The Jersey Boys at The Trafalgar Theatre. It is a really good musical, but somehow the atmosphere was a bit flat. For me this was a bit of a disappointment, as I had wanted to see it for so, so, long. It was a 6.5/10 for me.I got a ticket worth £104 for only £25, which was a blessing considering I was not as engaged by either the unfolding story or the songs in this musical.
On Friday evening I went to watch Bangers Season 3 at Streatham Space Project. It was over 3 hours of Black comedians both male and female, making me laugh so hard, that I not only cried tears of laughter again and again, I gave my stomach muscles such a workout, they were aching by the end of the show. My ticket only cost me £10.60 after my member discount.Stephen K Amos was one of the male comedians and I was really surprised when he came on stage. When I had purchased my super early bird ticket, the line-up of comedians had not yet been decided on. I got more than value for money. When I left the venue, I was feeling so relaxed and happy. For me this show was a 10/10.
When I admitted at the behest of the Black female comedian and host, that I was aged 60 years old, she came down from the stage to shake my hand. I was the oldest person in the audience, which cracked me up.
This afternoon, I performed 3 of my poems at the Poetry Spoken Word Event for Black History Month at Brixton Library. Over 20 poets performed at this event, so I was in the company of a lot of other writers with talent. My daughter and son came with me to this event to support me.We all had a really good time. For me this event was an 8/10.

You go to so many events and shows Sugarbaby. Amazing that you performed on stage too!
I remember going to Brixton Library when I was a child.4 -
We went on a walk today on a seafront path we hadn't tried before. It was nice. We got a frugal lunch of chips from the chip shop that we shared as it was huge. I snuggled up on the sofa when we got home and watched a film on Prime and then some YT videos and am now listening to music.
A couple of pics from today.

Fab pic of you on stage at Brixton library, Sugarbaby 😁 and super coastal pics, Wednesday...stunning sky too 😄
My champagne moment today is that we got the windows done....hurrah 😁😆😁 Imho, my DH is a superhero - I'm so very proud of him and his herculean efforts 😍🤩🥰 I laboured for him all day yesterday and am absolutely exhausted today...goodness knows how he must be feeling!
There's a few tiny bits to finish (such as the internal beading, top and bottom) and of course we need to add the external oak cladding above the windows plus complete the stonework either side....not to mention all the work to get done inside, but he was able to leave here for Brighton as planned at 2pm today....
We're thrilled! All our own work and just over £2k......11 -
Thank you Wednesday and Liberty Lily
I wrote my duologue and my character brief for Neighbourhood Voices today and emailed them to Alisha.5 -
My Champagne moments:
On Tuesday afternoon I went to the Ritzy cinema to watch the film, Emily. I used a £10.50 Picturehouse voucher towards my £10.80 ticket and 70p booking fee. I was totally engrossed in this film. For me this film was a 9/10.
Yesterday morning and afternoon, I was at Blackfrairs Settlement for the mental health and wellbeing discussion. We also had lunch and a music session laid on for us all to celebrate Black History Month after the discussion. The meal was vegetarian but tasted really good. It was basmati rice with chopped roasted veg and sultanas, spicy vegetable stew, steamed fine green beans and potato and sweet potato wedges.I was given a container full of the spicy vegetable stew to bring home. There was enough for 4 portions. I had already defrosted some steak mince to cook, so we had the mince with red, yellow sweet peppers and red onions, to add to the vegetable stew and I also cooked some baby baked potatoes.
Yesterday evening I went to watch the play Something in the Air at the Jermyn Street Theatre. I really enjoyed this play, even though my right knee started to be really painful about half way through this 65 minute play. I did hang my right leg down, to reposition it from the footrest, but this did not alleviate the pain. Thankfully the pain, did not prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this play. For me this play was a 9/10.I got my £33 ticket for £6.50.

My Champagne moments on Saturday:
Saturday from 11am -1pm I had my Neighbourhood Voices session. I told Ola that I had finished my play and he gave me a round of applause.I also asked if anyone could read my play and give me feedback. Ola asked Kirk Ann if that would be possible, and she said she would ask Alisha and see if anyone would be available to read my play. I do not expect anyone to take the time to read my play and give me the feedback, so I can do the next draft of my play, but it was worth me asking. There is the possibility I could be proved wrong.
I could not return to the second half of the session after the lunch break, because I had a ticket to see Elephant at the Bush Theatre. This is a one woman play that has a lot of original music from the singer, female actor Anoushka Lucas. She plays the piano, and the piano is central to the action on stage. She is a one woman tour de force. This play and all of the original music in the play was written and performed by Anoushka Lucas. She also speaks French at times in the play, so I presume she is at least bi-lingual. This play was a 9.5/10 for me.
In the evening I went to Karaoke at The Railway Telegraph pub in Forest Hill. I had a really good evening. I sang 4 songs: Return to sender by Elvis, Fever by Peggy Lee, Hurst so good by Susan Cadogan and Lean on me by Bill Withers. I saw an old male friend called Simon in the pub, so we had a chat. He bought me two bottles of water in the evening. I also had a male friend of Wayne's come over to my table to speak to me twice. His name is Kevin, and he is tall, incredibly fit and stunningly good looking. He is only about 40 years old, and he does not look it. The 3 women sitting on the table next to mine, were talking about Kevin and how fine he looked when he was singing, after noticing his great vocals. Yes, he is also a really talented singer. The 3 women did a double take, when he approached me and sat down to talk to me. I always feel self-conscious when Kevin is talking to me, because he is so stunning. As I left the pub, this man called out to me 'hey singer, you have a beautiful voice' I turned and said, 'thank you'. It was a nice compliment to receive.

You've been busy as always, Sugarbaby 😄 How lovely to receive that guy's compliment too 😊
My recent champagne moments - spending time surrounded by cushions, fabrics and lampshades (yep, I'm a bit weird like that, lol!) planning how the new living room will come together....it's very exciting!
Also, being delighted with the Fermoie fabric remnant I bought to reupholster a pair of dining chairs (we have two different pairs - the others are upholstered in a cream fabric which is neutral so doesn't require replacing). It retails at £150 per metre but I paid just £45 for 0.75m 😁
There was a lamp I'd intended selling but in the back of a cupboard I found a pretty shade I'd forgotten about that fits perfectly - so a 'new' lamp for £0 😉
I did some deep googling and discovered that the cushion I bought on ebay a couple of weeks back for £35 originally retailed at £237 😃
Best of all - DH is now home at last 😍5
