My apologies too, @PollyWollyDoodle and I should know better than to generalise so wildly about a large group of professionals - there are bad ones in every profession, and plenty of good ones too.2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Laura, pleased that your intended's news wasn't as bad as it might have been, and they can do something about it.
I have been very naughty. I have bought 2 balls of sock yarn today. In my defence, DH pointed out the wool shop, we're in York today, and I 'needed' some plain to use up the leftover patterned yarns. How many coupons should I use? The yarn is 75%wool and 25%nylon.
I will sweep the village hall this week as penance.2025 Fashion on the ration

One of my previous jobs was working for an engineer who was an expert witness on oilfield and industrial accidents. When I saw how many documents we had on certain cases, I started wondering at one point how much more the lawyers' offices had that they didn't think we needed. I think our record was something like 30 3-inch binders for one case.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.9 -
Hi, everyone, just coming up for air and reporting in... Special Hi to QueenJess and floriatwobob, and special hugs to MaddieMay and Laura...Skogar, are you just looking for ordinary plain polo shirts? You could do worse than look in the childrens' department in M&S. They do polo shirts for school. There's not a huge colour choice to be fair, and some colours only seem to appear at certain times of the year for some bizarre reason, but they go up to a 42-44 inch chest, and because they are meant for kids, they launder well. Jim used them when he was working as a technician at a school, and by gum have they lasted - about 15 years by my reckoning. They are starting to run to holes now, but he refuses to be parted from them.... And you won't pay VAT on them either.I have a spend to declare - two pairs of shoes to replace two other pairs, one which has worn out and the other which has given me problems in walking, so have ended up in the bin. No idea how many coupons I have left - I've completely lost track!Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Capricorn lass many thanks for the suggestion I have bought kids school shirts previously when I needed white shirts that needed a collar that was stiff enough for a tie as they were cheaper. I had never thought of polo shirts though.Does anyone on the forum have any experience with using a knitting machine? I'm not thinking of buying one but my mum has an old one sat in a cupboard. Apparently she used to use it but said it was a problem as you had to leave it set up and toddlers were prone to pulling the stitches off (obviously my siblings were particularly naughty children). I'm guessing it must be 40 years old at least. It's probably steam powered. She is going to look it out for me.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons8

Forgot to say I will report back on the lincoln longwool - it's a bit odd though as I have no idea of what would be normal for a comparison. Usually wool when I see it is in a ball or on a sheep.

I have been for a walk round the back of the village hall (those weeds are getting out of hand) to clear my head, and come back in a much better frame of mind, sorry if I was a bit grumpy earlier. Good tip about M&S for the polo shirts.I am knitting socks (long train journey tomorrow) and dreaming of the dedicated sewing space I’m going to have in my new house.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. @skogar my mum used to have a knitting machine when I was little and yes they do need to be left set up (she had a special table just for it). The stitches could be unhooked but there would need to be some intention behind it 😉 and they can be rehooked easily (from memory). They certainly speed up knitting and I remember being taught how to use it and wore the outputs!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Re the yarn, I ignore the nylon in sock yarn and consider it to be pure wool, counting it at 1 coupon per 50g.
