Oh yes, odd socks have been a thing for a while. A friend from work never pairs his socks, just pulls 2 out of the draw and puts them on. Not sure I could do that though, they would have to feel EXACTLY the same when on or it would seriously upset me7

I have a friend who does this, she said she just can’t be bothered to pair them up. However I would be like you @Liverpool_Anne, if they were different thicknesses or lengths or something I wouldn’t be able to wear them all day. It would only work for me if I had identical socks in different colours. In other news, having been “bombed out” (sold my house) on 16th August I have now exchanged contracts on the purchase of a new one. It’s been a stressful few weeks, and I’m living in my friend’s spare room at the moment with just a suitcase of clothes. It’s been very generous of her to put me up. What must it have been like in wartime, when not only were you forced to rely on friends or relatives to offer you somewhere to stay, but you’d probably lost all your possessions too. Anyway, despite having not packed much in the way of warm clothing as I thought I’d have moved in before now, I have managed so far without spending any coupons. The market town I have moved to has a great selection of chazzas so I’m hoping to get through this year without spending many more. It will be wonderful to get my stuff out of storage and rediscover all the things I’d forgotten I have!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.8

My friend has got around this by only ever buying one make and style of sock, so any 2 are a pair.
Hopefully not too long until you get the keys to your new place @PollyWollyDoodleFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Problem solved. I’m going to borrow a pair of DH’s socks.
On the odd-sock front, a lesson I learned from a different forum was to buy 6-10 identical pairs of (say) black socks for work. That way, you just had to pick two socks out of the drawer and they’d automatically match. Before I started wearing my own, hand knitted socks to work, that’s what I did.

@PollyWollyDoodle, hope you are in your new home soon
I remember when I came home from Kuwait and had my things packed in tea chests and shipped home, it took ages as it was only a small amount and they had to wait to fill a container and even when it got to the UK I had to wait over 6 weeks to clear customs and be delivered. Unpacking took a while as the house was being decorated etc. I found so many things that I had forgotten were in them. I suppose this does show how little we really need to get by and how we fill our lives and homes with wants rather than needs.

Aaargh! I go off to beautiful Wales for a couple of days and there are 77 posts to catch up on! If I'm bit quiet for a while, I'm just catching up. No coupon spends to report, just a couple of charity shop "finds" - a pink vest top for warm days on the allotment and a 50% wool aran jumper in a lovely heathery greeny-blue, both £1.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9

Where were you, @thriftwizard? I'm just finishing a week near Chepstow. Great charity shops - at least 5 - but nothing that fit me.
