Some spending to declare: two bras (3 coupons) and a pair of shoes but these latter were spotted in a charity shop (and are leather flats, so hopefully fairly weather-proof) so no coupons for those.
For those who haven't seen it in my diary - the old house is now sold! People assume I'll be emotional but I tend to do negative emotions in advance so I think much of the grieving is already done. We left in brilliant sunshine too, which always helps. There is now the stage of closing off all bills (hopefully a few refunds such as insurance) and paying ourselves our inheritance. After that, who knows what?! Though judging by the shortage of staff at work, I won't be able to enjoy my 'leisure' fully for some time and I'm not in a position to retire even if I wanted to.
This afternoon I've been asked to help out the Land girls instead of fire-watching tonight. They say a change is as good as a rest but I'm not so sure in this case as the 'Land girls' are desperately short staffed. (For 'Land Girls' read 'a care home in a different town and with a different client group': it's similar to work I did early in the pandemic for a month, but definitely not my work of choice. However, I've got more choice than the people I'll be supporting).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I have been very naughty. I have bought 2 balls of sock yarn today. In my defence, DH pointed out the wool shop, we're in York today, and I 'needed' some plain to use up the leftover patterned yarns. How many coupons should I use? The yarn is 75%wool and 25%nylon.
I will sweep the village hall this week as penance.
Re the yarn, I ignore the nylon in sock yarn and consider it to be pure wool, counting it at 1 coupon per 50g.

Hi all, I have had a rough couple of weeks as my dear friend with leukaemia has lost her battle this time and I will miss her terribly. She was a crafter and made beautiful quilts.
I have also had a birthday and I got a lovely jumper from m&s but it really didn't sit right so I have exchanged it for 3 crop tops and a white t shirt which I am assuming are coupon free as they were a gift but correct me if I am wrong Pip.
Take care everyone8 -

Sorry to hear it @Liverpool_Anne. The loss of a good friend is very hard.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.6

Re the clothes, they were a present, so came out of the gifter’s coupons.
@Cherryfudge - I’m like you. I tend to do my grieving in advance, when I know something is going to occur eventually. It’s the sudden stuff that hurts the most and knocks you sideways. (FWIW, I could never understand why one of my friends was so devastated when his job finally ended, 18 months after being given notice of redundancy. He had 18 months to prepare for it and to process it mentally/emotionally. He did none of those things.)Cherryfudge said:

Must be a load off your mind. It’s been a long journey, selling your mum’s place. Four years?

Oh @Liverpool_Anne, I am sorry to read this. I have found in the past that even when you *know* someone has very little time left, the actual news still lands like half a house on your head. Go gently on yourself, and I hope you are able to spend some time looking after yourself.

Is it too late to join in for 2021?So far this year I have "spent" 11 coupons on a wool dress (en route to me right now) and 5 coupons on sandals.Since June 1st I have worn just two dresses as a personal challenge, with two forays into decorating gear to paint my shed, and one into long sleeves for nettle pulling purposes in the garden, but the dresses have been worn every day.My new wool dress will arrive this week, I hope, and I plan to wear it as part of a 100 day challenge.Currently knitting socks but I had the wool already. Do I need to count this if I bought it a couple of years ago - I'm not counting clothes I bought a few years ago so I am assuming that if I own fabric or yarn already it wouldn't need to be counted?2023 Fashion on the Ration

Welcome @borscht, and everyone is always welcome to join! It sounds like you're already off to a flying start - it took me a good couple of years to stay within my coupons... and no, if you owned it before clothes-rationing came in, then you don't need to count its coupon-cost, so your sock-wool is safe!
Pull up a chair and help yourself to...oh, drat it, we really need to find a definite place to *keep* that biscuit-tin! Has anyone seen the biscuit-tin? Well, it was probably empty anyway.... I've just been making foraged-Mirabelle jam, so here, have some bread and butter with jam for now
