Thank you for the kind words, @PipneyJane and @Baileys_Babe. I started it on holiday which was the last full week of July, and finished it last night, but I've just done a bit at a time so that my hands didn't start to hurt again. I think I'm getting rheumatism in my joints so I'm careful how long I knit or crochet.
I just did 2 granny rows then 2 rows of treble crochet (double in US). I made up the border with a base row of trebles up the sides and doubles (single US) top and bottom, then shell clusters with 4 trebles with a slip stitch in between.2025 Fashion on the ration

You are putting me to shame with your 'makes'! @thriftwizard, the hat is fab: what a good use of those thicker bits of old shirts - and what an 'at! I would like and admire it even if it weren't saving the planet.
@PipneyJane, that yoke is a beauty. I am torn between thinking it must have been fun and wondering how much concentration it needed. No sun up north today, either, so I do sympathise with the need for woollies. I even pulled DH's winter fleece over me and fell asleep on a car journey today!
@MrsCD, are you a very fast crochet-er or did you actually spend the coupons a while ago?If you really did all that today you will have sore wrists and a satisfied smile! It looks a lovely soft cosy blanket.
ETA: oops, I missed your post above sorry! Well done on getting it all done in just a few weeks but looking after your hands at the same time.
@CAFCGirl, PipneyJane is spot on - my winter coat is a 'duvet'. I carefully bought one long enough to keep my nether regions warm, and with nice big pockets. Perfect for those of us in the tundra.
As for me... I took the blue jumper (WIP) away with me and never dared touch it once. I have developed a fear of What Happens When I Tink It (again). What happens if I am still remaking that row and still getting 113 stitches come Christmas?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

At least, @Cherryfudge, you won't be looking at 6 weeks of knitting, with up to 460 stitches in a round, and an XXL cardigan in 4-ply that you realise you just don't much like....
I think it's going to be frogged...

That's a lovely blanket, @MrsCD!
Sad about your cardi, @Laura_Elsewhere - that's a lot of work & time that could have been better deployed.
And thanks to you all for the kind comments! I'd been wanting to make a hat out of the collars & cuffs for ages, but spent ages faffing about trying to work out how to cut the individual bits to fit together, then join them. The answer, of course, was to join them first, into something not unlike a thick fabric in its own right. The cut out & stitch in the normal way! The other problem was that, during lockdown, my "big" machine was playing up & threw a wobbly every time I tried zig-zagging the stiffened bits together. But then I had it serviced, which helped, but not quite as much as talking to an engineer who used to work for the makers, who told me about a work-around for a threading issue that this model is prone to. It's amazing how smoothly it runs now...

Very nice hat, @thriftwizard. Is it very thick?
@PipneyJane, your jumper looks lovely and warm. Very nice knitting!
@Laura_Elsewhere, at least you have realised you aren't keen on it now before you finished it. I feel your pain though at the wasted time.😥😨2025 Fashion on the ration

Do you like the yarn but not the pattern, or have they both failed to live up to expectation?

@CAFCGirl, on the coat front, it really depends how much you feel the cold. I usually get by with a fleece over a big jumper so you may be ok with your usual winter things with the addition of a scarf, hat and gloves. I do think you need to think about it being waterproof though as my experience of the north is that you get more rain, certainly on this side of the country anyway and I have a long waterproof coat for when it's absolutely persisting down.
@Thriftwizard that hat is fab, you are so creative, where did you get the pattern from?
@PipneyJane, love the jumper, what are you using the new wool for?
@MrsCD, lovely blanket, I tend to crochet more in the winter as it helps to keep me warm as I make it
Today I wore M&S leggings over 2 years old, t shirt from I don't remember it's so old and socks ditto. Underwear newer, trainers 6 years old but now approaching the point of being used to do the garden as my gardening trainers are not as comfortable.
Take care everyone7
