Loving the skirt, @Laura_Elsewhere! A really nice use for that needlecord. I still have the bit I kept for myself, but the rest has sold now.
Today I've worn - anything that came to hand! Actually an old M&S black vest-top and a comfy M&S skirt, whilst going flat out for my one-and-only weekend's trading this year, up in the north of our county. Because of the new grandson, I didn't sign up for anything that meant camping away this year; not that most of them happened, or are happening, anyway, but it will be good to be with the rest of the gang for these few days!Angie - GC Nov 25 £58.39/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6 -
@Laura_Elsewhere, the skirt is lovely and I really like the little print on the fabric.
@Thriftwizard, hope you have a good weekend, the weather is looking good so hopefully trade will be brisk for you
My knitting mojo is still with me and I am making steady progress on my sister's birthday present.
I popped into 2 charity shops today but I resisted
. I did see a nice wrap but then I thought " I don't really need this. I have 2 very nice wraps already" so temptation resisted and no spends.
Take care everyone7 -
After not spending very much at all, I need 6 yards of cloth to make a Regency-era dress for a dinner party.

Hello lovely people, I have progress to report on the blue jumper!

Many thanks for all the pattern reading way back at the beginning of August when my stitch count went wrong and I had to reknit an increase row and it was still wrong... Having you looking at it for me really helped as I then knew where I wasn't going wrong, if that makes sense. I was too tired to sort it out at that point but I've got there now. I had to take it back to pre-increase and count the stitches in the ribbing and for some unknown reason it was four stitches (1 cm) too wide. I tend to count twice or more so I don't know how I made this mistake, but there it was and accounted perfectly for the wrong post-increase row.
Of course I then had the choice of starting over or finding a work around so DH has stood patiently while I arranged pieces round him and we decided to stick with the four extra stitches on the grounds that it's easier to wear something a bit loose than a bit tight. The Government may have restricted the turn-ups on men's trousers but in this case I think I can justify a little extra wool on the grounds that DH wrecks jumpers if they don't take off easily, so in the long run we're saving a garment.
The increase has been reworked minus the four extra stitches and now stands at the correct number and I've added a few new rows in celebration.
In other news, DH and I had a Bank Holiday weekend saunter yesterday and found a hitherto unexpected charity shop. DH bought some really nice expensive shoes for all of a fiver and I got a knitting pattern.
It's been colder today so I can get back to the heavy-duty jumper knitting if I fancy a change. It was just too warm to have on my knee over the last few weeks!
How are everyone else's projects going?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well done! I think it's extra-hard getting back on track with old projects as you have to work them out all over again, in addition to finding where you were up to and whether you had gone off-pattern for any reason. What's the waistcoat like?MrsCD said:Tonight I finished a knitted waistcoat that I must have started and almost finished at least seven, eight, nine? years ago! This is it...not a great photo but you get the idea. It's denim super chunky yarn. The front edge hangs down and you fasten near the collar with a shawl pin.

That looks very snug and warm, @MrsCD. Perfect for the sort of days when you need to be active and there's a bit of a chill in the air... but not enough for woollies or fleeces. I think you'll find you wear it.
