So...my husband understands more than he wants to about my family's organizational skills now.
Mom is using glitter that she'd bought to do spin-art. The spin-art machine did not move with us back in 1993 or so. Which means...her glitter is at least almost 30 years old and has moved 3 times.2023 Fashion on the Ration: Start with 66. Nightdress - 6 = 60 remaining.6 -
Hi thriftwizard, no you are not alone, I have been fascinated by volcanoes since I was very young and would really like to see a little one such as we have in Iceland right now. There is something hypnotic about the slow moving lava flows that just draws me in. The beast that is Soufriere is, as you say a different thing. I am not overly stressed about it at the moment as my niece and nephew seem to be ok, luckily the wind is taking most of the ash cloud across the Atlantic, currently heading for Spain, they are close but south of the ash cloud so are getting some ash but not dangerous amounts. I am concerned about their water and food supplies as most of their food comes via St Vincent and their water is delivered in tankers. The electricity is cutting out and their wifi connections are erratic so communication is sporadic. Luckily my niece is posting on her fb account when she can so we know they are ok at the moment. I think the main concern is that it has been rumbling since December and is showing no signs of stopping now it has started, with explosive eruptions at least once a day and no sign of slowing down yet. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that nothing worse happens. Take care everyone7

On my walk, I even saw a wild rabbi!
Really *not* quite the reality... what a difference a -t makes!smile:
You’ve met my second cousin’s husband then? A lovely man but SO enthusiastic about everything that he used to terrify me, when I was a child. One minute, I’m quietly daydreaming about what will happen next in the book I’m reading; the next minute, he’d drag me out of the crowd to do something. Definitely a “wild rabbi”.
(Where is the “roll on the floor laughing” smiley when you need it?)
Aren’t wild rabbits tiny?

@PipneyJane - I don't know if wild rabbits are tiny... I just realised I've had very very little contact with pet rabbits to compare them with! I can picture dozens of times I've seen wild rabbits but am really struggling to compare with a pet one, although I'm sure I must have seen them...
Wild rabbits are certainly much smaller than hares, and I do pity my poor Gran having to feed a husband and schoolboy son on rabbit again and again and again all through those war years and post-war rationing...! And with very few onions, which are very commonly used to go with the rabbit...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Well I've semi sort of known for about 6 weeks over the recruitment process for DH, so with each stage the likelihood became greater and greater. He then was offered the role but I don't think it really sank in until we gave notice to our current landlords on the 8th April (and we have until the 9th May to move out) and getting to notice yesterday that we've been accepted for the new house.
We're moving from Kent to Hambleton, North Yorkshire. Wiki tells me our new town is 1/5th the population of my current one so that might take some getting used to, but I think it will suit my soul better LOLWealth is not measured by currency9 -

(I have to confess to a bit of bias. I was indoctrinated as a child by the Yorkshireman living next door.)
I don't recall Hambleton but I've spent a small amount of time in Northallerton, the county town, having worked with a project team based there. It is a proper market town, with an excellent market a couple of times a week and good shops. Thirsk is lovely, too. Both don't need much set dressing to convince you that you're back in 1942.
These are special coupons for household items only. No spending them on clothes or dressmaking fabric.
Good luck with the move.

Hambleton is the district/council so I'm told, but we're actually going to be in Northallerton.
Street view filled me with joy with the charity shops, a houseplant shop and the market stalls of which the fruit/veg and flower one has me particularly giddy.Wealth is not measured by currency9 -
@CAFCGirl, oh well, you've landed on your feet and no mistake! Northallerton is a corker of a place, best fish and chips in England (there are better in Scotland, natch), superb market and generally an all-round excellent place to live. Nice work!
And, of course, far safer from the bombing than Kent!
And yet still within easy reach of the Village Hall here in Much Mending on the Borrow - how convenient2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
