Wild rabbits are actually MONSTERS when they dine upon my carrot, parsnip, pea & bean seedlings up at the allotment! Grrrr...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9

another 5 coupons on an icy mint colour cotton cardigan which picks up one of the colours in a cotton print I had in stash which will make a shell and matching skirt. Very pleased with that. Even more pleased when I found a toning string of beads in Accessorize. Things like beads were coupon free weren’t they? I hope so but it would still have been worth the spend
Finally another 5 coupons on a pair of light tan ballet flats from Marks using my discount. They are as soft as slippers. I bought a pair in navy last year and leapt at these when I saw them. It’s a very light tan, almost caramel and again, picks up one of the colours in the print. It will also go nicely with my white linen capris
So a total spend to date of 16 coupons. I don’t think I’ll need to spend any more although wants are something else. I’ve see some sandals in Hotter which are a bit more dressy but don’t have too high a heel. That would take me up to 21 if I succumb but I’d still have 45 left so I shall mull it over a bit longer.
Hotter haven’t actually got much summer stock in even though they have reopened. I think their management are making them have a sale to get rid of all their winter stock first. Trouble is, they are chasing their tails because they had a long drawn out sale into the autumn last year before getting in their winter stock only to go into circuit breaker / Tier 4 / lockdown so they have still got loads of winter stock. Very much hoping history doesn’t repeat itselfIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!7 -

(Sneaked some carrot seeds in today, alongside leeks; they're defended by the sides of their now-raised bed, built from old decking rescued from my son's little garden, plus netting stretched over water-pipe hoops. That should keep them safe from the little blighters! But I also sowed some in a deep windowbox at home, to be on the safe side. Defended from marauding chickens by netting unpicked from an old vegetable-sack... Now to work out how to defend my peas...)Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8

@thriftwizard - pea-sticks! The really twiggy, thin, multiple-branching sort, and lots of 'em. The rabbits try to get close but get poked constantly by forking twigs, so give up. Really - but you need *lots* and they need lots of twigs coming out at right angles...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Thank you, Laura; the dead canes I've just snipped out of the raspberry patch should work pretty well! Somewhat spikey...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

@CAFCGirl, @PipneyJane and @Laura_Elsewhere, all I can say is... look me up when you get up here. I'm not too far away.
PS. I think there is some sort of record attempt going on though - or is because of its being 1942 that none of you has mentioned Lewis and Cooper?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

By way of a ‘thank you’ to those who decoded the old pattern terms for me... here’s the result! Beautiful holes just as they were designed to be all those years ago when M1 was presumably neither a knitting instruction nor a motorway. It was indeed what we’d call a yarn over, so when I knitted that band for the sixth time, it came out very satisfactorily.
