Charity Shopping - bargains galore for 2021!

Yesterday I had the naggy voice in my head saying "go to the everything's a pound shop"...I tried not to listen as I'd already popped in on Monday but the voice got louder so off I trotted.
The result was a Dickins and Jones turquoise wool duffle coat. DH took one look and said no, it's fit for the bin, it's so bobbly. I reasoned that £1 to charity and an hour with a razor was worth the effort....and it was! It looks amazing now, there's a very tiny burn mark near the hem at the back (matchhead sized) and one of the pockets has a slight threadbare patch on which only shows when you look closely 5p size) It's got a big floppy hood, leather straps and big chunky toggles, it's my new favourite thing in the world.I'd imagine it would have been a couple of hundred pounds new and although it's obviously been loved and worn, it's still got enough life for this winter for me (and hopefully a few more after that too).
DH nabbed a thick hooded Next jumper (had a stain on but took a chance for £1 and it's washed up beautifully), a base layer long sleeve top and also picked up a lovely mustard/brown/green tweedy jacket which will be perfect for a wedding next year.14 -
I really love charity shopping and its going to have to stop, my home has more than enough of everything but I think its the bargain factor and the fear of running out of stuff I'm addicted to. I've been watching hoarding shows on TV and can see myself heading that way in the next 30 years if I don't do something about this!!
So am enjoying hearing about your finds on this thread to give me that vicarious thrill.
Oh yes, I bought a BN Silent Night Comfort Control electric blanket for £10 last SaturdayNo man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.9 -
Oh well, today's afternoon of chazzer-dodging was an abject failure.
I bought 3 books for £1 at one shop, 2 for £1 at another, a fitted M&S Autograph shirt for £1, a fleece jacket for indoor use for £1 (cheaper than turning up the CH) and 2 metal Ikea shelves for £1 each. But at least I shall use them all!

I wonder why people get rid of organisation things, do they not work for them or is it that they have surplus? I also got those IKEA shelves, but for double your price @Rosa_Damascena about a month ago!
Had a weird experience. Walked into a shop at lunchtime and saw this bloke staring really intently at a handbag. Honestly looked weird so I felt really aware of him, suddenly he grabbed the bag and bolted! I said (without thinking) "excuse me?" And he dropped the bag and a packet of pants, grabbed the pants and then ran off. I was asked what he looked like but I'm so bad with faces that all I could tell them that he's white and that was it. I was then thoroughly told off for endangering myself (didn't mean to!) I was so weirded out by the whole thing I went into a different charity shop and bought a lamp. It's a great lamp. 10/10 would buy again.12 -
I've been really busy for the last few days but had the time this afternoon to pop into Age UK on my way past and found a copy of this book What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew: From Fox Hunting to Whist-the Facts of Daily Life in Nineteenth-Century England eBook : Pool, Daniel: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store for 99p.4

Paid a visit to Richmond, (the North Yorks one), yesterday. Was surprised to find so many charity shops have sprung up since my last visit - well worth a visit! Came away with a pair of BNWT M&S grey checked wool trousers. Priced at £9.95 which seemed a bit steep but originally priced at £39. Thriiled to find they look great with the 99p BN grey jersey M &S jacket purchased earlier in the week.4
