I've been making a pile of 'clothes to go' that just do not spark joy, or bring comfort so I want them gone.
I don't consider myself as 'on trend' - with any generation but I do resent the idea that past a certain age, you have to dress in a certain way.
Not for me!
I'll have my jazzy design converse, dungarees and slogan tee shirts all the way, and I'm making no apologies for it nowWealth is not measured by currency12 -
After that small rant - opps!
Sue Ryder today. Definitely a preferred shop here in town. I find this almost odd as where I moved from, I really disliked the Sue Ryder there. All about the vibes obviously.
Books were the order of the day.
8, all at £1 each - including a brand new hardback of 'The Foundling' - it was the cover design that first seduced me, but it seems interesting.
Also very happy to snap up a paperback copy of Stephen Fry's Mythos!
Now I just need some rainy days and hot drinks to snuggle down for a good old reading session!Wealth is not measured by currency8 -

@Frith - lovely vase, which flowers are you going to put in it?
@C_J - well done on the curtains.
@CAFCGirl - if you mean Heyer's The Foundling you're in for a treat. I've just finished rereading her short stories which really took me out of the present day.
I cycled to the very upmarket suburb today in the autumn sunshine and spent a very pleasant hour mooching around the charity shops there and being chatted to by lovely volunteers.
I bought a beautiful china pie dish £3 and a copy of the Australian Women's Weekly Children's Birthday Cake Book £1.50.
Then in the hospice shop I bought a corner plate rack £1 but didn't buy the Lakeland Jam Funnel Set as it was priced at £8 and I just line a sieve with a piece of muslin or two so nobly resisted buying additional kit that would just be clutter.
Finally in Oxfam I bought two plastic pudding dishes with snap on lids, 99p each, a cookie scoop, also 99p, and a metal infuser, £1.49, which I think will be useful for holding whole spices etc. for chutneys and so on. Again I decided not to buy the small enamel casserole that caught my eye here because I couldn't tell if it would be usable on the hob and it had no brand name for me to look for online either.
Here they are.
Isn't the pie dish pretty.8 -

and everyone else....
Completely get this - otherwise at 60+ I wouldn't be wearing florescent orange jeans to work. OH however said I couldn't wear my new Jethro Tull tshirt with it as the colour combination would make children cry and my colleagues eyes bleed. What a party pooper!!
But as for the fff it attitude - here's what we need to say to ourselves..... (& fyi - I have purple jeans as well)“Warning” by Jenny Joseph
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple,
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves,
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain,
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens,
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. My mum LOVES that poem. Funnily enough, I was speaking about wearing bright colours with her while charity shopping. She loves colour, but some she will not wear (despite the fact that she would look great in them) such as purple. I love wearing all of the colours and call my dress sense demented toddler.
Got some err... Little kitchen cupboard shelves for shelves? What are they called? Regardless, £2 each for little ones and £2.75 for the big one, they appear to be from IKEA which sells the little ones for £4. I had no idea they sold them, I thought they were a Lakeland thing. Don't hate me, but I cannot stand going ahead IKEA, it takes 6 hours, everything blurs together and I need 11 breaks. But love the meatballs.9 -
It's the lack of daylight & shortcuts out that spook me, but a godfather adored the place & his wedding list was IKEA numbers. SO I had to be Brave. The place looked fantastic, but I had to keep the lads scrubbed or leashed as they went for the white on white look & small boys don't really go with that. His new place is much more eclectic & I'm not sure what colour the walls are as he has bookcases & film posters up galore!8

Lean spell has ended as it always does.
Next leopardskin (fake obvs) coat. It is a fitted style with a belt and is more velvety in feel than fake fur although it’s polyester not velvet £8.
Boden dark denim button through dress £5. It’s very stretchy and flattering and what i especially like is it has an internal button to stop it gaping at the bust.
Black leather “The Sak” crossbody bag with pretty lining £4
Bright red Next suede loafer/ moccasin type shoes £3. They may be slippers but I’m going to wear them as shoes.
Stripy fleece and fake fur 100club earflap hat £2. DS doubled up with laughter when I modelled it!
Boden Johnny B age 14 blue and white heavy cotton striped top with elbow length sleeves and lace collar 50p. I find teen sizes often fit my top half and are often v cheap in CS.IA reddish pink small Quechua backpack £4. It’s very light. I was a bit displeased when I got home to discover that the previous owner had cut down the webbing that adjusts the strap length. It’s fine for now but wouldn’t work so well over a big winter coat. Mea culpa for not checking but I’m sure I can fix it.
I’m now in the process of getting together a HUGE pile of stuff to donate including previous leopard coat, 2 denim dresses that are less nice than my new one: one very full skirted which drowns me a bit(I’m 5’2) and the other which is so tight you can see what I had for breakfast. I’m also going to redonate a few bags which were impulse buys from the CS and not really me. I would feel guilty if I’d impulse bought new but less so with the constant whirligig of CS purchases.8 -
I love that poem and purple is my favourite colour.
The other day (purchased because I was cold) a bright purple Berketex jacket. 5 pounds. Bargain......
