Hello Ladies,

I am utterly fed up with the constant racism and unwarranted demonising of Meghan Markle.    I never read the type of vicious comments about Prince Andrew that his reprehensible behaviour should have warranted. He has not been stripped of his Royal title. 

This thread does not only talk about Frump to Fab issues, we talk about many issues that any of us may raise and that is as it should be. We are all free to comment on other issues if we choose to, but surely we should all be mindful of not discussing subjects on an open forum where we are making offensive comments about public figures, when our thoughts are not based on any facts. Racism comes in many forms and as a Black British woman born and bred in South London, it never ceases to amaze me at how no one in my whole large family or extended family has not had to deal with racism in all parts of our lives. 

Can this thread and the other thread started by LL please not be a platform for racism or the demonising of any public figure. There are other threads or other social media platforms where these types of viewpoints and comments can be shared if you really feel the compulsion to air such views

have no racist feelings about Meghan Markle at all. In fact, I was pleased when she, as a woman of colour, joined the Royal family so that the rather stuffy institution had an opportunity to genuinely reflect our society. What I object to is pushing themselves into the public eye when they said they wanted to live privately. It's the emptiness of celebrity culture. ☹️

My husband thinks we shouldn't get a flat as we have pets and he is right, but I like the idea of living in a flat as we have a garden here and hardly use it. Wednesday, do think hard if you are considering an apartment - not all blocks are built with good sound insulation between floors and being ground floor it would potentially have door noise, stair noise and ceiling/upstairs noise, particularly if there is laminate upstairs.

Sugarbaby.......well said.  

I deliberately kept a low profile and said nothing, however I agree entirely. 

 I feel a great deal of sympathy for the poor woman.  Unfortunately the abuse heaped upon Megan, by not just the palace, but also the tabloid press isn't just racist, it's also about class, and yes, misogyny. They painted her and her family as little better than trailer trash.  And what's wrong with being raised on a trailer park (yes I know she wasn't but I'm just using this as an example). 

And like Dolly Parton (who is another who was born dirt poor and considered  by many to be white trash) Meghan has worked hard, bettered herself and used her wealth and fame to try and do some good in the  world,  

The tabloid press are vile.   They do this all the time.......they build someone up, only to tear them down. They are like jackals.  They did it with Fergie, Diana at times and even Kate in the early days (calling her Waity Katey). 

 They have even turned on Mark Rashford.  

I never thought this thread would become so nasty. It goes completely against what the ethos of this thread is supposed to be about. I am so disappointed.  

If all you want to do is b i t c h about people in the public eye then I leave you to it.

I haven't seen anything racist on here.  I certainly have no racist feelings to MM, she's actually very like my daughter so it would be odd if I did.  I agree there is lots of racism, I see it when I am out with my husband or kids, it makes me sick, but I don't think that means we can't say we are sick of hearing about someone.  Not to mention that I referred to her and her husband who is white, in fact he's ginger like me so I have no prejudice on that score either.

When Prince Andrew was constantly on the news I was sick of hearing about him as well but at the moment we aren't being flooded with him, he has stepped back and shut up which was a wise decision in the circumstances.

I feel it is offensive to accuse anyone on here of racism as I have never seen a hint of anything like that.

Point out who said anything racist.  Her colour wasn't mentioned, she wasn't the only one I mentioned.

If you or sugarbaby seriously think I or anyone said anything racist then report it and see if someone objective can see the racism.  It might have escaped your notice that Prince Harry is white and he is every bit as annoying as his wife.

Thank you.  After all these years in a mixed marriage I have suffered from racism directed at us, I have neighbours who are unpleasant to us because of it.  To be accused of racism because I'm fed up listening to the same thing over and over again is very insulting.  I say again tell us what was racist, you notice I was fed up with my hair which is ginger like Harry's so am I guilty of being anti ginger.  People throwing around accusations need to back it up.
