I'll let you know if I find any tops in Sainsburys TC77. I put some thermal socks on this afternoon as I was feeling really cold. Fortunately I have a range of thermal stuff from football. ☺️4

What a lovely thread. It’s not all about the money! Sometimes it’s a state of mind. Look forward to reading the posts!

I'm going back to wearing long dresses and skirts in this weather as I find tights with short dresses too cold! I should have looked for some thermal tights with my clothing order. This thicker vest top I'm wearing today feels lovely and it does make such a difference to wear a warmer top underneath. I did look at the Debenham's closing down sale yesterday but didn't see anything I really wanted.
I didn't even go out for a walk yesterday as I read a whole book and then didn't feel like going out after it got dark. It was a thriller and I got carried away.
I'm just going to get through this lockdown reading all the books I have and watching Netflix!
I watched a documentary on Netflix yesterday called American Murder: The Family Next Door. I don't usually watch true crime but I read this documentary got very good reviews. It uses real footage from police body cams, interrogation room footage and news footage as well as the videos the family put online. It was gripping, but really disturbing.
I have ordered my dogs a new bed and also a warm blanket for our bed arriving today. I don't know if it is because we had such hot weather this summer but I am really feeling the cold. I might need to get my thyroid checked to see if my meds needs adjusting but I won't bother to do that during lockdown, obviously.
I'm about to clean the bathroom and then make a cup of tea and start reading another thriller. I've read so much non-fiction lately that I wanted to read something more frothy.5 -
My work place have given us antigen tests to use twice a week and after getting a very faint positive line and feeling terrible for the lat couple of days, I've got a test booked in for this afternoon.
Fingers crossed it's just a cold, though the way I'm feeling, I won't be back at work this week whatever the results.4 -
Good Mornjng lovely ladies.....
So far so good. As I mentioned my word for this year is "intention" to live each day intentionally, to show up each day and do something to work towards my goals and make my dreams come true. No procrastination, no more faffing around. To that end the great declutter has begun. Today it was make up and toiletries, medicines, jewellery, and stationery. Its very painstaking and time consuming because I'm actually moving everything around and rejigging storage. Aiming to get rid of more furniture so having to rethink where I am putting everything but I want to create a "stock room" and designated work space.Luckily I do have a couple of spare rooms because the chazzers are closed, so for now I'm just boxing and bagging up everything that I want to donate. I have set aside a nice pile of assorted bits of jewellery, (not hugely valuable, some of it broken) some coins and collectibles to sell. The bricks and mortar auction houses are shut of course so large items such as my crown derby collection or anything that is likely to be damaged in transit will have to wait until the end of lockdown but the smaller, more sturdy bits can go to an online auction house.Tired now so a rest, a walk and then prepare supper. If I have any energy left I might do a bit more sorting later but there's no hurry. I have all the time in the world and it's a good project to keep me busy during lockdown. 😉.Another cold but bright sunny day here so a walk will be nice.I'm another one doing a fair bit of reading, watching Netflix and Prime. Watched the new Minimalist documentary the other day. Didn't learn anything new, it wasn't a whole lot different from the first one, but it did rekindle my desire to get cracking with the decluttering this year.Weighed myself this Mornjng... actually got a very pleasant surprise. Back on the healthy eating although not actually counting WW points as such.Frankie, 🤞. Hope all is well.7 -
Mrs Porridge, I stopped watching the news, and looking at social media that gives views on the news!! A few years ago when my husband died, I think it helps to not have negativity thrust on you all the time, as it does affect my mood. . I work in a food store and have worked through lockdown ,it's freezing there and I've always had loads of layers on, I wear M and S heatgen plus range of long sleeve tops they are brushed inside and cosy enough to wear as a top or an under layer. Also M n S thermal velour lined tights , these are really thick with almost fur lined inner. I definitely have bad circulation feet hands and nose are always cold!! These certainly help.
My hands are not so much dry as I constantly moisturise but the tips get sore and sensitive, then they crackers down the edge of my fingernail, I think because of the sanitizer, and I do lots of cleaning at work.
I'm going to take my gel nails off now, as I've finished painting my bedroom and wardrobes, in readiness for a new carpet. So I'm going to manicure and put new gel nails on and give my hands a good moisturising. I try to go out for a walk on my days off , aiming for an hour or more if possible . As I find it helps me sleep better.
I'm watching Bridgerton on netflix, and really find it a good show, it helps that the actors are quite lookers!! I watched Anne with an E it's a good escape from this world. I loved this is us. I am waiting for new episodes of that.
All my decorations are down now , I miss the tree though as it's pretty at night. I treated myself to some flowers to cheer the room up and light my candles at night, plus my fairy lights around my fireplace make the room cosy.
I hope you are all keeping well, off to check out the minimalists, didn't realise they were on a documentary. !Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
Wow, that was quite a list of things to be sorted in one day LL. Well done.😊 I did a fair bit a couple of years ago, following MK's principles and it definitely helps to store things in categories. I can honestly say that nothing I did then has ever got back into a mess and because I can find everything so easily then things are unlikely to be forgotten. Still got areas not tackled though, like photos. 🙁
There's a rule of thumb that if you haven't worn an item for a year then you shroud discard it. I think it would be positively dangerous to do that this year. We'd soon have empty wardrobes. 🤣
Interesting what you said about the Christmas tree wort. my DH remarked that he misses turning the lights on each morning as it cheered him up. I have fairly lights in the fireplace but I have been thinking where else I could put some. We have been lighting candles regularly though but they're all mainly evening things. My door wreath will light up for the last time tonight and then that's it for another year.
We went to Sainsbury's this morning. It was our largest local branch but what they had left in thermal vests was very sparse, mostly huge sizes and heavily patterned. I did get myself a cream/off white one which will be a change from black and I can discard the old lacy vest as it's not really long enough. I'll try my local store next time I'm out. I wore my fleece lined thermal leggings and today I've left them on indoors as it was my legs that got cold yesterday. My thermal socks are just a cheap pair from Aldi sukey. Other years, they do a good range of ski wear and I've bought socks and thermal trousers there to add to my football watching in winter wardrobe! 🤣
I'm just using light make up at the moment. I rarely use foundation as I find it a bit heavy and mask like so preferer a tinted moisturiser. Sometimes I will mix foundation with a bit of moisturiser for evening wear. At the moment I'm just using a pearly primer or Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. My skin is in great condition so it's enough. If I feel I look too pale ten I'll use a bit of bronzer on my cheekbones. I put a tiny bit of concealer under my eyes and plenty of mascara. Instead of eye shadow, I prefer a highlighter on my brow bones. If my eyebrows aren't tinted then I use a powder on those for definition. Normally I'd finish off with lipstick but masks and lipstick doesn't mix! 😷
I think I've been through most of the beauty/skincare routines I use in the past few days. I'm going to take a copy and make sure I stick to it. I've developed quite firm habits over time so just need to work on a few (thanks for the Body Shop almond tip floss).
I'm not so cold today (could be all the thermals😉) but I think maybe that's because it's overcast. It was 4 degrees when we went out.6
