I've just finished the latest Ian Rankin novel. I love Rebus. I wonder if it has anything to do with being married to a taciturn retired police officer? All seems very familiar, not the dead bodies or the frequent whiskies but the view on life.
I've been watching O J Simpson Made in America on i player. It is very interesting, what a complicated man and such a tragedy but I have to say as someone who can't catch a ball I found it strangely comforting that such an athlete shares that particular shortcoming. It isn't just about him, lots of interesting stuff about the California he grew up in, his very nice life at university with sports finance while close by the black community in Los Angeles were suffering. I found it quite shocking when someone commented that he was good looking, good features like a white person not black at all. I've got one episode left to watch but tonight Boris will be what I'm watching. Supposed to be 8 pm but going on recent performances I suspect he will be late.
Maddiemay I think I am losing my love of chocolate, looking at it all piled up I feel quite revolted. I'm not very disciplined with chocolate normally but I haven't touched any in days, it is just sitting there looming over me. I wonder if they'd like some at my GP surgery? They probably would but I'm not sure they'd unlock the door for me. My husband is no help, he's still got an easter egg the GC bought him. Such a first world problem.4 -
Just cross posted pixie. I didn't know that Boris was on tonight. 8 p.m. is when my team kicks off their match against Liverpool. I don't know which will be the most painful to watch! 🤣4

I feel like I'm almost on the verge of breaking down (because of Covid) and I'm not sleeping too well.. Am trying to focus on the positive stuff, so here goes:
I am hand piecing (patchwork) a quilt inspired by Jane Austen, from a kit. I am loving doing this and its good to keep my hands busy
I have done myself a fitness plan (based on one I found on the Internet) so I am fit enough to climb Snowdon in August. To that end my new walking socks have just arrived!
Tomorrow I am doing my usual virtual (via Facetime) sewing (stitch and !!!!!!) session with my friend who lives 3 doors up the road. Now we cannot meet in person this is the next best thing.
I have had a lovely Christmas and New Year
Writing it down has made me feel so much better - I WILL BE POSITIVEDebt free and Keeping on Track6 -
Mrs Porridge it is really hard I know, finding it really difficult to do anything at all bar read, cook and spend time on the internet. I will try and take heart from your positivity and get out of this place.
On a purely selfish note I am keeping everything crossed that the lockdown will not begin for a couple of days, I am due my first hair cut since early March last year, have gone from a chin length graduated bob to the full Veronica Lake and I really hate it now, I have tried tying it back or putting it up, but it is just too fine and looks awful, fortunately I do have a lot of hair, but it does not stay put without loads of product. In the grand scheme of things it is nothing, but really need the mood boost now.
As they say "it is what it is"The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)5 -
You're doing all the right things Mrs Porridge . Keeping healthy and busy is perfect. I love the sound of the patchwork. I need a project like that. 🤔6

Chin up Mrs P. As maman says - you are doing all the right things. Just stay safe, healthy and keep busy for the sake of your mental and emotional health.Just hunker down till it's over.7

I think I'm still feeling good about son being OK so I feel quite laid back about whatever is coming next.
DD loved the blanket I crocheted for her so that was a nice project, the trouble is wool is expensive so can't be doing it all the time. I'm planning a spring clean doing one room at a time, I started before Christmas but didn't get every room done so I will finish it off. At least the nights are already starting to get a bit lighter which is cheerful.
Just waiting for Boris to start.7 -
Relieved that DD1's school is closing from tomorrow regardless of what Boris says. Majority of the teaching staff said they felt unsafe and Head Teacher agreed.7

Hi again all,Wednesday & Maddie I have the purple tights from snag and they are very nice. 🙂
I’m currently reading the seventh Flavia Albia novel by Lindsey Davis - murder mysteries set in Ancient Rome if you’re not familiar with her! I read all of the Falco books and thoroughly enjoyed them so have moved onto the Albia ones now.
Don’t really want to think about another full lockdown, my 3yo is desperate to get back to nursery. 😭 He might get to go back a bit sooner as both DH & I are key workers but who knows.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.6 -
