As suspected DD2 will be back to school and older children will be delayed a little while longer.  Not sure how I feel really as 2 of us will be out in the world to get infected while 2 at home keeping safe, until we bring it home.  Also they are still booked to see their dad on Sunday so who knows who he has been in contact with, and where he plans on taking them as most places are now shut.  I think I just have to do what I can to keep us safe and hope that while the children are not with me they try to stay safe, even if their father isn't.  I dread the days they go to him.  We are a really happy content little bubble.  We have a great 13 days and then the 14th day I dread. I know I just have to bide my time until he gets bored (he never really wanted to spend time with them until he left us).
Homemade lasagne tonight with salad, as our food consumption in the past few days hasn't consisted of much that is green, or isn't snack type foods.  Tomorrow the children wanted homemade pizzas for new years eve, so will put some veg on those too.  We don't normally celebrate new year, but after such a year (covid and divorce) I feel we should do something.  Maybe a game night of family film night (as kids have spent most of their time off working on individual things).  We have everything in the house so no need to venture out at all - just how we like it.

  • Two of my DCs are happier learning at home rather than school. We are completely split in the new year as 2 DCs and I will be back at school on Monday, 3 will be home doing online  learning and the rest split between working and not.

Great plans for celebrating New Year!

Well Happy New Year to you all.  Pizzas eaten and film watched.  Sent youngest DD to bed and no doubt the older 2 will be awake long after I fall asleep.  Now looking for the matchmakers we know are somewhere in the treats cupboard.  See you all in 2021.

Good afternoon, i have spent today entering competitions and sorting out budgets a little further.  If i am lucky to win anything nice, i will decide if we want to keep, gift it or sell it and put money towards the mortgage fund.  They are all free to enter and the only cost is time which today i have plenty of.  I am also going to log onto survey site in a minute and see what  i can do there.  I need to keep on top of this as it is quite a little earner up until now, and certainly has made buying presents for Christmas easier.
I've also been onto a friend / councilor i know about the proposed building at the back of the house.  He is willing to meet with me socially distanced to look at the proposed site and happy to fight in our corner when it comes to planning - fingers crossed

Competitions sound good. We won a couple of holidays in exchange for listening to timeshare presentations. We didn't buy but holidayed in Scotland, Cornwall and had a short break in Keswick

  • Hi Slm, I've caught up with you through your old diary and can't believe how uncannily similar our journeys have been...although you've managed to get your Absolute a heck of a lot quicker than me, I'm still waiting for mine! Good luck for 2021.

Thanks Octobergirl for joining me on my journey.  I am sure my story is only one of the many many similar on here.  I love how i have a group of likeminded friends that might have a glimpse of hope or advise for me over situations I find myself in.  I may even be able to help others through :)

Hello!! Sorry I haven't popped over sooner I've been a bit overwhelmed.
Amazing you've got a local Councillor to help with the stupid planning permission submission. Right of access and right to light whatever it is that'll get them to back off.
Your new years sounds good. We had a disco in the kitchen. We have a little disco light from amazon and a Spotify playlist and we were away.
My kids don't want to do anything and they haven't been with their dad so it's too much of a fight to get them to do it for me now. I'll try and summon some can be bothered tomorrow.
I'm really hoping your home sells this time xxx

Great to see you Kitten868.  The kids are all happy and if that means all in different areas of the house amusing themselves, not causing arguments then i am happy.  Yes it would be nice if we had more together time, but everyone is happy which is the main thing.  Currently waiting to see if the government do another u turn and stop primary schools.  I can see it happening, but even they are leaving it a little late now.
More competitions entered today.  Still need to meal plan and then do food order before tonight so I don't miss my slot.  As i used to work at the town council i still know quite a few of the councillors on the planning board and as i had quite a lot to do with them, they all know me fairly well (and like me).  Unfortunately although the town council can suggest the new builds are not suitable it is not their decision to make.  The councillor coming to see me however will make a good case for it if he believes he needs to.  We shall see.  The proposed builder has a lot of influence around here too and has built the other side of the road in previous years on a small scrap of land, which had similar issues so I'm not too hopeful to be honest, but you never know.  I guess even if it makes the builder sit up and realise we are not just going to let him get away with things it will be worth it maybe.  I looked online at houses and one of the previously sold houses in the village that i like is back on the market.  It would appear that although many houses flew off the website several of them have returned.  I am sure it is on for 20k less too.  Its just a shame i am at least 3 months away from getting mine on the market and who knows how long before it sells.  I can dream and keep fingers crossed lol
