One generous parking spot will be enough to manouvere though, won't it? And it solves your access issue.

Glad you've had a great day xxx

One generous parking space will be ok for now but if uncle comes to stay and very soon DD1 will be old enough to drive they will need somewhere.  I have been truly spoilt for parking for the past 15 years as there is enough room at the back of the house for around 5 cars.  That will go once the builder puts a house out there.

Today i am hoping to get a Dr's appointment as i have a pain in my hip area that is only getting worse.  Last night i think i must have only had 1-2 hours sleep (going to be grumpy today).  Normal painkillers didn't touch it.  Dr's receptionist said i can see physio on sat if i like.  Asked politely to see someone prior to that as i need pain relief.  I am not sure if its connected but i fell down the stairs year to year and a half ago and bruised myself quite badly.  It took me a long time to recover and if i sit for a while i ache still.  Currently the least painful option is standing up, but i have to sit / lie down at some point

Feeling better this evening as I am now on powerful medication.  I only woke once last night in pain and after I topped up with painkillers I was able to get back to sleep.  I definitely work much better once i have had a good sleep.  Only disappointing thing was I woke up so comfy that I didn't want to move.  Unfortunately the 2nd electrician was coming round so I had to get out of bed.  I wasn't keen on this one and have offered the job to the first man.  His quote was £690 for the work rather than £2200 from the second guy.  He is hoping to come at the end of next week to do the work which works very well for us.

We have quite a busy week ahead of us so I am hoping leg/hip is better and I don't need to keep taking the tablets as it means that I cant drive.  I keep nodding off if I sit still for a few minutes.

First payday was better than I had expected, but until I get my payslip I wont know how it is made up.

Wow!  That's a huge difference.  Hope his work is good!  It's always best to get at least 3 quotes.

Yes there is a very big difference.  He has had a lot of good references on FB and he was one that a friend had used previously, so I am fairly happy with the one I have chosen (hope I feel that way this time next week).  I did contact a 3rd electrician but have yet to hear back.  My sister said quote maybe so high as the 2nd one doesn't want the job.

Aww hope your hip feels better soon! Have you had an X-ray or anything to find out the cause of the pain?

Glad you’ve mentioned electrician prices. DPs best mate is doing our kitchen and DP had a go at me the other day saying I’m taking the pee not paying him properly. I’ve give him £50 each time he’s come paid £150 for car parts and will give him £200 on finishing so that’s £500 in total but when I googled it the prices were anything from £2500 to £4000 for the amount of electricity I want. I don’t really know what’s reasonable as mates rates. Maybe I should throw him a couple more hundred?

It sounds like you’ve come to terms with staying in the house now so that’s good. I don’t know if I’d be worried about getting parking for dd1. Do you think she’ll be able to afford her own car? And if she does do you think she’ll be staying home for several years after getting one to make it worthwhile spending more for double parking?

Thanks for your thoughts.  I haven't seen anyone about my hip as yet but have spoken to a dr on the phone.  I do have a physio appointment in Sept so I guess they will advise any further investigation then.  It was a while ago since I fell down the stairs, but its only been since then that I have had problems on and off.

I have a feeling DD1 and DS will be living here for some time as they both feel safe around me and don't like to stay away for too long.  I just get that feeling although I maybe proven wrong lol.  There is still time to think about the drive situation as house out the back is yet to start so I still have parking currently.

Thankfully with the help of medication I've had some good nights sleep.  Today i am off the strong pills and just on regular painkillers at the moment.  It means i was able to drive again so we went to the festival that we had hoped to be at for the whole weekend.  Never mind.  We had a little walk round and saw the main bits.  We didn't stay too long as we are back there tomorrow for our outdoor cooking plus I didn't want to overdo it.  I will be taking my chair so i can sit when needed tomorrow.

Feeling more positive re house.  Hopefully once the electrician has been i can look at all of the other options i have.  Dreamt that the loft was converted last night.  It would be good but means all my funds would be on that rather than the kitchen, bathroom and other bits and bobs that need doing.  We will see

I want to be able to advise you better. Grr! I am one of those people that can make anything out of anything from sheer determination. Would it work one at the front and one at the back? Not take up as much space from the back garden? I'm sure you have the right eye to make sure you're getting the best out of the space though.

Glad you got the good quote and the good electrician. I expect your friend is right and he didn't want the work. Saying that though I do know alot of sparkys that really value their work xxx
