Thank you everyone. It is a relief to know i wont have a gap in wages. I start on 21st June and will be doing 3 mornings at the school, and dropping 1 day so 2 full days at the preschool. I took in my ID today and again the staff that i will be working with were very welcoming. They were at the time organising their euro 20 sweepstake, so it looks like the staff like to have some fun which is lovely to see. I also realised that i will have a permanent desk and i can leave my bits and bobs on my desk. Because other people use the community centre that we are based in, everything has to be packed away and i don't have anywhere to put my things. It might not sound much but it will be a real treat after many years of packing everything away each time.
Me and the kids have picked our football teams in the hope of getting into the euros this year. I have really good memories of euro 96 so thought if we divide the teams between the 4 of us then the winner can have a bar of chocolate. I think we all managed to pick a fairly good team so hopefully no one will be out in the first round.
Not much planned for the weekend. Homework, washing, cleaning etc and if all that gets done maybe a trip out for a walk somewhere nice

Well this morning i have ordered many many clothes that might be suitable for office wear. No doubt most of it will go back, but there may be a few items that work (i hope). Had a little lie in this morning and then started on the washing, before my online shopping spree. DS has asked to watch the football as he is up against DS2 which i may regret if he wins lol. He hasn't ever and probably still wont be into the actual football, its definitely the thought of winning overall. Ok must go hang out the next lot of washing that has just finishedMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well I've been busy organising bit and bobs ready for next weeks new job. Several of the clothes I ordered have arrived. Some are suitable and others are not so will be going back. Another batch should be arriving today. I've sorted out DD2 school run - she will walk with a friend of mine that goes that was anyway until the end of term and then we will see what happens from Sept onwards. My car has started creaking quite a bit so I am taking it to the garage around lunch time for them to put it on ramps and see. XH would normally have either put my mind at rest over car noises or mended it. It might be nothing, but because I have no idea on cars I would rather someone checks and says its nothing to worry about, rather than me driving around and it makes it worse and I end up with no car. Those who followed me from my previous thread will know my cars always seem to die just before the summer holidays! We were always being left wondering if we could have days out or not. Might have to dip into the car fund pot, although if it costs more maybe the emergency fund or house funds. Will wait and seeMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Back from the garage. Man took it on a test drive and obviously it made no sound at all. He put it on the ramps and all was ok. I am very grateful nothing is wrong but i know it was making noises. Told me i can bring it back any time if it gets worse. No charge either for him spending half hour on it which was very kind of him.
Been waiting all day for school to call - so far nothing. Not actually been waiting just today - this is the call i was supposed to get before half term. Head of year then promised yesterday he would call but nothing. I rang again this morning and asked to speak to someone else as he is not in today. We will see as the lady they suggested i speak to i have been trying to get in touch with for over 2 years.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well today was my first day in my new job. The morning routine worked well and DD2 walked to school with a friend of mine. The morning whizzed by really quickly and i would happily have stayed for the remainder of the day but i am only there until 1 so came home and still had energy so put the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer on. Also mopped and scrubbed the kitchen floor. I have been really needing to do this for some time now hence the scrubbing needed as well.
I think this job will keep me busy and i will soon settle into the job. We had a few teething problems with the computer but other than that it went really well. Ive been told that i have missed this months wages as its paid on the last day of the month. I will therefore get the extra in next months. I am also entitled to a pension (yay my first pension) which she advised me is a good one. I have a large handbook to go through and some standard training to do, but its all go now.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hi all, its been a busy few weeks. New work is going well, old work is it always was. My uncle came to visit for the weekend and only left this morning so no time to get head back into work / school mode. It was nice to see him though, but didn't feel very relaxing as kids were not on behaviour suitable for relatives lol.
We have club tonight but i am really looking forward to getting home tomorrow evening and doing nothing at all - apart from dinner. This working 5 days a week alternate jobs each days is tiring. I'm hoping 5 days in one place will seem easier. I just feel really tired and am looking forward to the holidays. I did look at the local museum but activities for the kids are either £20 for half a day or £35 for the whole day. They used to put on very cheap or free things, but i guess the new management plus the past few years troubles have put a stop to that. Never mind we can still visit and make our own fun for free.
Ok must go as off to club shortlyMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

When I first went full time I found it took me about a month before I didn't feel permanently tired. Just give it a bit of time and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thank you, I think the combination of going in between the 2 jobs isn't helping and then not having a proper weekend to do nothing hasn't helped. I will get there and not long until the holidays - just over 3 weeks.
I believe that once I am on my full wages with the new job, I will go above the threshold for free school dinners and all the benefits that come along with that, so I need to factor that into my figures. I need to get the food budget under control again as its been creeping up and as I've had the money there its not really been an issue, but there is no need to spend the extra other than laziness on my part.

I feel exactly the same as my brothers been down whilst I’m working so been to see him every night after work and just exhausted! I think we’re quite similar and all or nothing sort of people lol! Roll on summer holidays 🙃
i hope it pays off anyway and you get a decent little chunk of money for all your hard work. When were they first put on FSM? Mine were on them for a period in 2018 and because of that are entitled to them until they finish school no matter what my earnings are so have a look on your local council website. I wouldn’t be entitled to them today but it’s a continuation from then.XxxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700
