I'm the same with my hair slm, I normally have it cut in Feb/Mar each year. I couldn't last year and this year haven't tried to get an appointment yet. So now over two years, it does really need it though.
Have fun with getting the house respectable.Without overpayments: 15 years, 1 monthsBecause of overpayments: 10 years, 10 months left until paid off1 -
The house is still not respectable - I have until 17th May don't I before people are allowed in lol. Paid some more into my emergency fund instead of the money going to the mortgage. So the total is now £1670, aiming for £2500. It's building up nicely and i could possibly have the full amount by the end of the month as long as nothing goes wrong.
I was hoping to hear from the mortgage lady - she briefly rang last week to say she had had a family bereavement so hadn't managed to get anything done but will hopefully call me this week. Totally understand why she had gone quiet.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Spoke with the mortgage lady today and although no decision on if i can or cant have a mortgage i feel slightly more positive this evening. Think we have sorted the issue of my uncles loan out. I might not be able to get as much as previously thought, but anything to add onto the value of this house to enable me to move is a blessing. Fingers crossed and hopefully she will come back with some good news and then it will be all goMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Payday today and I got a little more than expected. Unsure why as not yet got the payslip. I've put a little more into my emergency fund which now stands at £2100. Not much more to go until that little pot is full and ready for whatever life throws at me.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

- Had my 2nd jab early today so in theory I am all set to be release back into society lol. As it was a little way away I took the opportunity to visit a few shops I wouldn't normally get to go to very often. I now have a pair of shoes without holes that show my socks, a pair of work trousers to replace the ones that the zip went on before 1st lockdown, and a hoodie to replace the one I begrudgingly threw away last week as the cuffs had disintegrated and it was definitely past its best, or even 'just for gardening / cleaning wear'. It wasn't very money saving, but it was all needed and will come out of the clothes pot.
- I have just finished sorting dinner and the washing and making the house look a little better. After last time of feeling poorly after my jab I thought I had better get ready, just in case I didn't feel like doing anything for a little while. So far so good, only a little soreness in arm.
- Not sure why I am now writing in points, I must have pressed a button lol.

Good and bad news today. Good is that I am feeling much more myself after the jab - had a few days a little zombie like. Bad news I have been told come 21st July I will have no job as she is closing. House plans back on hold for a while until I can find something else as although mortgage advisor is doing her best to find me a mortgage, I think even she will have a problem with this issue. Not my first redundancy - in fact its my 3rd. Had a look on the job pages and nothing jumping out as yet. I have to be grateful I own my house and my outgoings are low. It will all be fine and hopefully work in my favour. I believe I am entitled to redundancy pay as I have been there 3 years now.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Oh dear it’s one thing after another isn’t it. As you say at least you’re able to get by now with the house paid for. Just stay positive and think of it as a new opportunity for the next chapter. XMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Thank you. I am ok, just a bit fed up having to keep putting the house on hold, just i think i am getting somewhere. I still have a job application that i have already put in so fingers crossed that is the one, and that should keep work coach away from the door! It's not the lack of money or having to find a job that i am dreading, its the stupid work coach hassling me again all of the time.
However these things happen for a reason i am sure so we will see what comes of it. There is still a possibility that someone may take over the company but nothing in the pipeline as yet.
Off for an eye test shortly and then a lunch date with my best friend which will be lovely (as long as the weather holds out). House needs cleaning but it can wait another day lolMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

While doing my food shop online today I noticed they are advertising school uniform savings cards. Save £280 and get £15 bonus in august. They obviously have the xmas savings card too with the same amounts and bonuses in Nov I think it was. I think in the next 3 months while I am employed I will put some money towards these cards and then I will not only have an emergency fund, but emergency food money stored on a card just in case anything silly happens. I might have done the xmas one before, years ago but cant remember if i did or just looked into it. I'm wondering how many cards I can have as if past the £280 mark it doesn't look like you benefit from any more bonuses. If I had a second card I could earn on the second card too? Will see if I can find some terms and conditions that might give me the answer.
I'm keeping my fingers well and truly crossed that I get an interview for the job I applied for the other week. It would certainly take the pressure off these final few months if I already had something to fall back on. There isn't much at all that will fit around the children and the fact that I have no one to reply on for childcare or picking DD2 from school. At least if I was to get this job I could work around kids and find something suitable in my own time rather than the work coach finding me something totally unsuitable. I am also wondering how the redundancy pay will effect my benefits. Although not a fortune its still just over a months wages. Might have a google in a moment.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Got a survey today directing the older 2 to another survey to complete. They will hopefully get a £5 voucher each once completed. They are sitting here to do it in case they need help and my goodness me they are new to surveys lol. I'm trying to help explain what each question means. I think i will deserve the £5Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
