I am pleased to announce hoover now working much better since it had a major clean of filters etc. I have also installed the plinths in the kitchen that needed replacing. My neighbour kindly cut the plinth to the right length for me as he has an electric saw, but i put the sticky back plastic on them so they look the same colour as the originals, and screwed the attachments on. Each one went on first time. Another DIY task to add to the list, and feeling quite proud of myself, even if it was quite a small job.
Roast chicken is in the oven and washing is in the machine. Very productive day. Back to work for a day of training tomorrow so need to make my lunchMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I expect your mortgage redemption included the ERC. You passed the threshold into the lower ERC and my guess is that money is the difference between the ERCs. I would give your mortgage company a call and ask. See if they can recredit you as a cheque payable to your uncle so it doesn't go through your account. And you can just pay it into his account. I would take £20 out of your EF and then you're down to owing uncle £106k instead. Great start!!
It is a really rubbish time to get a mortgage. You have a big deposit which is a massive help though. Have you seen any houses you like on the market? It's really dried up where I want to buy xxx

Well i have just spoken with the mortgage company who tell me that my solicitor asked for a mortgage redemption certificate for the 30th April. They hadn't taken into account the normal payment on 1st April so there still might be some money to come back, but the balance on the account if from the ERC that hasn't been put on there as yet. This normally takes about 5 working days according to the gentleman i spoke to.
Kitten there have been a few houses that have been perfect for me, but have been and gone. I don't have that big of a search area (mainly 2 large villages or close to there) and am going with the budget of what i would have been lent last time i enquired about the mortgage. I don't want to live in the small town anymore as it is more than likely that XH and new woman will be moving here and i don't really want to be bumping into them any more often than is needed. Unless i get the new job i will still need to work in this town. There are 22 entries on R1ghtmove (2 duplicate, 2 land for developments, remaining 3 bed plus a room they call a bedroom but barely big enough to put a single bed in) in the 5 mile radius of where i am now and maybe 2 i would consider looking at, but do not tick the boxes and are not in the area that i would like to be in. I must point out the 5 mile radius does include the area that i want to live in. There are lots of new build going up but they are out of my price range.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I’ve just read your whole diary and wanted to say well done!
It has similarities with my own life (got divorced 16 years ago) and reminded me of getting my house put in my sole name.2 -
Hi Frith thanks for reading. It is lovely to know that he has no hold over the house or me anymore. Hopefully tomorrow i can speak with the mortgage lady and see the likelihood of thingsMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Not much happening today other than a trip to the tip - i didnt realise quite how many black bags i had filled and put in the garage - and then i resealed around the bath. That was a new DIY skill that I picked up. I have never used one of those silicon gun things before. I watched a few clips on how to do it and i managed it. I do feel proud even when completing these simple (to everyone else) jobs as ive never had to do anything like it, or when XH would not let me.
Still nothing from the mortgage lady. Will give her a few more days and then ask if she needs anything else from me - pretty sure i gave her everything and if not she would have askedMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I've heard today that i have an interview at the school in the village that i would like to live in. Fingers crossed everyone please. Not told boss i need to swap days as yet as interview is on one of the days that i work, as she didn't seem in a very good mood as it was. Treated the kids to a hot choc for 50p from the well known coffee shop that are celebrating their birthday.
On money news the mortgage lady has been on holiday but did call earlier to chase the info she wanted. Said i had already sent it, but she hadn't realised and will call me next week. I got the impression that because my uncle has loaned rather than gifted me the money, this will cause problems to me. Will wait and see but at the moment i am thinking i could be here for some time. Anyway positive thinking from now on as i cant keep moping around all the timeMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well it looks like they have now closed the mortgage account as i have received some money back into my bank for overpayment. Looks like its just the payment for April but ever little bit helps. Leaving it where it is at the moment but might move it to the emergency fund laterMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Day off today so should be cleaning, but sat down to go through some bits of paperwork for a bit. All almost sorted now. Nothing much moneywise happened over the past few days. I have done enough surveys to cash another £20 out, but waiting for the last few pence to clear before i cash out.
Not yet heard from the mortgage lady so still a bit in limbo. There have been a few small houses on the market that would give us the extra bedroom, but in general are smaller, missing a garage/parking and in the same town as we are in now. Not sure they would be an improvement. They wouldn't really need much of a mortgage if at all (maybe 10k). Maybe an option or at least something to think about.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
