Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish and I hope you feel better ASAP. I understand how desperate you are to move, I feel the same at the moment and it gets me down. Just think about how much you have achieved there instead and when you're starting to slump, distract yourself. Maybe a bit of baking or like you say listening to music. Could a new hobby help, so that you've got something to put your mind to? Knitting, crochet, painting? x

Thank you Jessy, I have been trying to keep busy these past few days and although I am not happy I am not crying which is a plus.

I have been entering competitions and listening to the radio a lot.  Went outside but only to do a food shop but perked me up a bit.  I find it too hot in the sun nowadays and burn even with cream on, so tend to stay in the cool inside

Had a phone call this morning offering me a job interview.  Made me feel like I was wanted / valued (even if it was only on paper lol).  Not 100% I want to leave my current job, as there are good things to the job I am at, but then there have been so many changes that have all come at the same time and looking at how miserable I have been this holiday makes me think maybe now is the time.  I will go on Friday and do my best and see if it is offered and go from there.  So I need to re-read the job description and learn a little more about the company, as well as finding something suitable to wear.  Either way it is nice to have been invited to meet with them.  Do I have the energy and willpower to work 9-5 and to go down to normal office holidays instead of school holidays.  Not done that since 2005 when I was pregnant with DD1.  It would take some adjustment that is for sure, but the money would be nice.

Ok about to go get DS's hair cut so I had better change into clothes a little more suitable.

How exciting! Even if you don't decide to leave current job at least it's a boost in confidence. Good luck x

You don't have to make a decision just yet.  If you're offered the job then that is the time to decide whether you want it enough to give up the long school holidays.

If you do go back to "normal" 9-5 work you do get used to it very quickly.  I went from working 4 hours a day to full time with an hour's travelling each way and was well into the swing of things within a few weeks.

    Good luck for the interview.

I am off out shortly to spend the morning with my best friend.  We haven't seen each other since the beginning of the holidays and are both in need of a good natta and moan and maybe a slice of cake.  First however I need to nip to the pharmacist as I was bitten 2 nights ago on my hand and like last year it is now starting to show signs of infection and is swelling up so much that I cant make a fist anymore.  What ever creature decided to bite me could have chosen a much squiggier part of my body that is out at night time, but no chose to bite the side of my hand at the bottom of my little finger.  Never mind, hoping some tablets will sort it out again.

I have booked for me and the children to go and see some Christmas lights at one of the local gardens / grand halls near us. It is at the end of November so will hopefully get us in the Christmas spirit nice and early.  We went a few years ago to a national trust one but this one is apparently much better (we enjoyed the last one) so we are looking forward to it.  I have used some of our holiday money that we haven't used to pay for the tickets.

I am hopeful that as DD1 will now not be working shifts (5 shifts left to do) we should be able to plan things together a little more, although she is with BF most of time but he can come too sometimes.  We will also be scheduling a trip to the smaller local pumpkin patch again this year.  Hopefully fun times ahead.

Had a lovely meet up with best friend yesterday and turns out she is feeling pretty similar to me at the moment. Not sure if just a coincidence or if it is because our kids are at a similar age and therefore we are just going through the same phase.  Anyway we put the world to rights a little, ate cake and had a good moan.  It was good for us both knowing we are not the only one feeling this way.

Had a shower this morning and feeling ready to tackle the house a little more now.  Nothing really planned today other than taking DD2 to her hair appointment this evening.  She is at the library doing some workshop so is being kept busy.  I need to do some washing and look at the bank account (pay day tomorrow).

Tomorrow first thing is the interview but I haven't had an email confirming as yet so no idea who I am meeting with. Pretty sure I know what I am wearing and I have researched them so can talk about their values and what they do.

After that I am hoping to go into work to rearrange the desks to make things work for me a little more as I am moving rooms.  If it doesn't work I am not sure what other things can be put in place as I cant stay in my old room
:(  Anyway at least if I can get that sorted my head will be a little clearer.

I do need to get bag ready for our first day back which starts very early and involves heading to London for the entire day.  Traveling across London in rush hour fills me with a lot of anxiety.  I am not made for a city life, give me a sleepy town or village any day.  We are all of the same opinion but as it is a whole company 'wellbeing day' we have to go.

OK time to get on as the sun is shining :)

  • Hi @slm6002 good luck with the interview. And good luck with the house sale - I understand how difficult it is when you need a certain amount and your house sounds like it is worth it too with everything you have done x you only need 1 buyer - hopefully they will turn up soon x

Thank you to you both.  Interview went well but I found out in the first minute that it was for a 1 years contract only, but as I was already there I felt we might as well carry on.  I think it would work well and I think they liked the experience I'd had in previous jobs, I just need a permanent position rather just the 12 months.  If I was younger and no bills or children to have been responsible for then it would be different.

On the way home I popped into work to check on new room.  I think it is as good as it is going to get given the size of the room and how many desks are needed, so will give it a go and see how I get on.  At least they have tried to sort things for me, which I am grateful for.

I need to sort meals out for now and next week as I have not gotten round to preparing and freezing dinners as planned.  I have been going round in circles looking at recipes and then trying to write a shopping list and at the same time trying to keep within a budget.  I then get distracted and start again later, while never actually finishing.  Wondering if we need a winter warmer type meal or something for a hot summers day is also not helping with decisions.  DD1 has offered to cook at least Monday as she doesn't have work and I will be exhausted.  So far tonight will be sausages, mash, cabbage and leeks.  1 day down lol

Sounds like the interview went well but shame it's only a 12 month contract.  Is there any possibility it could become permanent after that time as quite a few companies are using 12 month contracts rather than probation periods.  My DD2 has got her last 2 jobs that way.

Could you cook a bolognaise type dish in the slow cooker and then freeze in meal sized portions so that you an get several meals out of one batch?  Cottage pie, bolognaise, lasagne etc.  That could be say 3 or 4 different meals you could have over the next couple of weeks.

Perhaps you could also do a slow cooker full of curry sauce and then ring the changes with different proteins - chicken, beef, chickpeas, prawns etc.  This could give you another 3 or 4 different meals over the next couple of weeks too.

You could easily do these over the weekend and not have to think about too many other meals.

    HTH.
