Almost another week done, and it has been busy. This morning, far too early (middle of the night) I dropped DD2 off for her trip to see the battlefields. She returns late tomorrow night and will no doubt be tired but we will have a lazy Saturday morning to recover. She is keeping us updated but phone battery is about to end and no chance to charge it until they get to the hostel this evening.
I decided after getting up so early I would have a half day at work and come home at lunch time. I have completed some admin (Benefits people wanting to review my bank statements again even after only finishing the last review in January). Still a few more admin jobs to do to catch up but we getting there. Easy meals tonight so not too much effort required.
Had my review at work and have been put forward for a pay rise based on performance. I have already received details of the general pay rise that we all get this week. It will be back dated from April and I will get a get a lump sum in this months pay packet. Most are very happy but for me it just means I get more now but less in benefits next month so it almost wipes it out. Either way monthly income will increase a little so happy about that.
DD1's birthday tomorrow so I had better find and wrap her gifts soonMe, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -
It's the weekend - yay. Been quite an atmosphere in the office today between a couple of staff and I feel a little in the middle currently. Hoping it all calms down soon. Anyway time to enjoy a few days off. I am currently waiting to go and collect DD2 from the school. They are back in the UK and could appear anytime from around 9.30pm onwards - think they got an earlier train back. Hopefully not as late as originally planned and she is apparently ready for her own bed.
Money wise I spent some of my personal spends on taking DS and DD1 out to a local pub for a bday lunch. I know she is likely to be busy from this evening on so took the opportunity to treat her earlier. Benefits came in yesterday and I popped them into the correct spending pots and now waiting on my wages which will arrive early next week.
Still no news on the house. My friend got an offer on hers today and I'm really happy for her. Her husband cant really climb the stairs anymore so they need a bungalow. Fingers crossed it goes well for them. Also that we hear soon.Me, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -
Been awake for too long in my opinion and have watched it get light outside. DD2 is home and still fast asleep, she was so excited to tell me all about her 48 hours away and trying to get her into bed was a struggle even though she was exhausted (me too). Not quite sure what she spent all of the money on but only about 5 euros has come back and not a lot to show for it. I think I could probably have given her double and she would have spent it all. Hey ho, it's not an everyday event thankfully. Back to no spending now.
The sun is out but it is chilly - cosy jumper and blanket weather. No heating on as yet, we just need to move a little more to warm up and put socks and jumpers on, which is something the children don't do unless told. Need to see what is warming for dinner tonight, but forgot to get meat out of the freezer so need to think again. Meal plan required and reminders on phone to get things out to defrost. Possibly sweet potato and lentil curry maybe
Todays list is the usual washing, homework and tidying up around the house. Will go through my money spreadsheet again and see how we are getting on and look at next weeks plans. Uncle is here in a few weeks time so need to see if anything exciting is happening in the town that weekend, or if the cinema has anything he will like on.Me, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -

Spent some of my hours owed to me to book this afternoon off. The house is empty for once, not that I see them much anymore even when they are here but it seems more relaxing lol.
Bought tickets for my DD2 and I to see Shrek the musical at a fairly local theatre over the Christmas holidays. We will get the train (about 25 min away). That and a few smaller gifts is her bday sorted. I will then give her the mama mia tickets for her Christmas gift as it is in the Summer so longer to look forward to that one. Just DS's bday photo book to go as I have some bits already that he asked for but need to get working on the photo book so it arrives in time.
Payday today and have received an extra £200 ish from the back pay. Will pop a little more into the savings pots. Estate agent hasn't been able to get in touch with the possible buyer so has no news for us. He did mention that we should probably be looking at other houses though as the one that we would like now has 7 other people interested and it will be who ever gets a buyer first. Nothing much else out there though within our budget and also within the location that we would like or consider. Hmm, we just need to keep hoping he gets in touch and makes offer quick enough.Me, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -
Made it to the end of the week and it is miserable here with rain. Just want to tuck up in bed and watch some tv. I have just been to the health centre for my flu jab - no covid this year as I am a young person apparently - so hopefully I wont feel grotty for the rest of the week like I normally get when given both at the same time.
Hoping to still do some cleaning this weekend ahead of my uncles visit. I want to strip my bed and give it an extra good clean as I was bitten many times again last night and am so itchy. I've found no sign of fleas or bed bugs each time I looked but something is clearly enjoying munching on me. The fridge also needs a good clean, ready for a food shop and meal plan.
I think it will be a weekend indoors looking at the weather forecast. DD1 arrives home from her few days away tomorrow. I also need to start DS's bday photo book.Me, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
I've woken up to lovely sunshine. My alarms didn't go off this morning and it was later than normal so I had an initial panic that I should be at work, but it is Saturday so all is ok.
I am still so itchy even after the antihistamine and bite cream applied. Trying really hard not to scratch as I don't want them to get infected this time and end up on antibiotics again. Last night when I went up to bed I found that one of the cats had been sick on my bed (why is it never on a hard surface and always carpet or fabric?) so I got to change my bedding a day earlier than planned. Still no sign of anything nasty and checked both cats to see if they are bringing anything in but no sign, they are defleaed each month but looked just in case.
Got some free electric later on so will make sure to use that. Right I best get movingMe, DD1 20, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/191 -
Hope you find the cause of the itchiness soon. Its not a change of washing powder or any new creams you're using?Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700

Thank you Jessy I think it is more bites as nothing else has changed. I have bought some bed bug spray as I have convinced myself this is the problem even though there is no sign of them. Trying to keep busy to forget they itch so much.

Today is bright but windy, and as I was expecting to feel rough because of the double jab I had planned on doing nothing. Turns out I have some energy as only flu jab. Feels like a few bonus days.
DD2 and I are shortly going to drop off DS for work and then head over to another town for a look round the big cheapy shop that has lots of Christmas bits out around now and it is next to a big supermarket. Every year I buy my sister a tree decoration and sneak it onto her tree. It needs to be a little bit 'oh my that is an interesting bauble' but not too bad as she likes to have the collection on the tree each year. We will do a little shop to get us through the week but I will need to food plan what we are doing when Uncle arrives, but thinking beef stew or cottage pie.
When home we will be doing the usual homework and clearing up. I think most of the washing was done yesterday but DD1 hasn't bought her things down so guess there will be bits there.
Still nothing from the house viewer but I am not loosing hope until I hear otherwise.
