Have you an ikea close by ? They can give you ideas and plan as well.Sealed pot challenge 822

Unfortunately it is a good few hours away. My sister has had all hers from there and I like the style. I will be trying to see how much it will be from there using their exact measurements. I still cant get over how unhelpful in the actual design they were. I am glad I had some sort of idea of the layout that I wanted.
Form sent off finally which is a good feelingMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I've always been underwhelmed by so called kitchen planners as well. When we had our kitchen done a few years ago I had a rough idea of what I wanted and a local builder made a couple of suggestions which at first I wasn't keen on but in the end actually worked better than how I'd been thinking. So if you have a local general builder who does all sorts it might be worth talking to him/her.

Thank you, we do have the builder that has done quite a lot of work on the house already, so will give him a call - need him to silicon up a bit that was missed in the shower too so will be coming around anyway. Will say he had contracted in a man who missed a bit not him, and he already knows my thoughts on this person lol. I also know that he will be at least a years wait so plenty of time to save up when I am ready to book. Although if it is near 21k then I will need more than 1 year.
Well it seems like a Friday today but think that is because DD1 is on her last shift of the week and its been quite busy up until now. She had a lovely letter saying that she has now passed her probation and they are really pleased with her. Apart from the really long hours she is enjoying herself. She is still treating this year as a gap year so who knows what will happen in the future, but for now she is settled (touching lots of wood here lol).

Must say £21K sounds a lot for a kitchen especially if that's for only the units and counter tops! We paid about that for our kitchen, bathroom, new ceiling and insulation in the extension (which was already here when we bought it) with downlighters in the kitchen, extension and bathroom. This included tiled flooring throughout the living room, extension/dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom was also fully tiled.
Admittedly that was just after Covid so probably about 4-5 years ago and even taking that into account I still think £21K is excessive for just the kitchen!1 -
I think it's a lot too. We're planning on moving our kitchen to a different room so need new units and doors and we've kind of priced it up to around £4k something like that. That's without installation and other bits and bobs that put the price up (cooker etc) but I was planning around 10k tops. So might be worth a day trip out to IKEA to see what they can do for you and they will usually travel to fit it. My friend is happy with hers and she got the builder she uses to fit it (bought from local showroom in sale though).MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Thank you to you both, I was starting to think that maybe I was out of touch with prices, having never actually bought a kitchen. There was nothing that fancy included either, or any extra space ideas,
Am going to have to somehow get to the nearest ikea - panic attacks stop me from driving too far, but I am getting better. I have never been inside one but really think I would have a lot of fun and spend a lot of money too. Maybe it is not such a good idea lol. Secretly keep hoping that they build one in the town, but know that is unlikely.
Had the afternoon off, snoozed, entered competitions (including a few to win a new kitchen) and got ready for tonights club.
Off to club shortly and then we can all relax for the rest of the week.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Grateful that it is the weekend - it has felt like a very long week. Thankfully we have a relaxing few days ahead.
I would like to get DD2's passport sorted this weekend, so money will be spent. I also need to pay the deposit for the actual school trip, but waiting to see how we get on with the passport first. Next week I have my MOT so fingers crossed it will pass and no further costs needed.
I was thinking about wanting a trip to ikea last night and I was unaware that there was another one that was a similar distance away, and it was on a journey that I have been on before so I know I can get that far. Wondering if me and my DD's will have trip there. If we have an early start, look round, have lunch then drive home. Thinking summer holidays maybe? I know DS will not be excited with the idea at all and to be honest probably wont even notice we have gone.
For now though I am having an early nightMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Got my early night but woke up so many times throughout the night for no reason at all. I just feel like I am constantly tired at the moment. At least the sun is shining even if app says it is only just over freezing out there. So far I am the only one awake in the house. Will give them until 10 then wake them for their washing.
I have done some competitions and surveys this morning while it was quiet. There are some lovely prizes that would be good to win, but not holding my breath.
Next door are off on their hols on Monday for the week so I will be on bin duty. I will also be able to go outside without worrying that he is out there. Lets hope for some sunshine so I can get out there and sort the garden.
Jobs for today / tomorrow:
Washing
Kitchen cleaned
Living room tidied
Bathrooms cleaned
Meal plan for the week.
Make pizza bases for the freezer / or dinner / or both
Help DD2 with homework / revision

I got most of my jobs sorted at the weekend, but also managed some rest time too. My body just feels tired at the moment and achy. Not sure if it is a bug or just that I am run down, will monitor it and see if a doctors appointment is needed. Been a while since my last lot of bloods for feeling similar. At that point I was put on iron and vitamin d (I have continued with the vit d).
My car has passed its MOT yay, but will need new brake discs in the summer holidays. I asked for a price and was shocked. Not sure if it is because it is a different garage or car that has made the cost go up. Sure I never paid that much last time, so I will give the old garage a call, although they didn't do a great job with DD's breaks so maybe I'll find another one, just to compare amounts. I will keep putting money in the pot each month to make sure there is enough in there. Current amount is £200 once the MOT cost has come out.
Gutted as I closed my online calendar by accident this morning. I have been using my word document like this for years now, but today it has vanished and I cant find my file at all. I've tried searching but nothing. Have now given up and made another. Going to have to go through messages and emails to find dates of things and hope I don't miss anything off. Not ideal but needs doing. I find it much easier than a physical diary and it normally works really well lol.
Looking forward to dinner if I can muster the energy to get it made. Enchiladas and coleslaw - yummyMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
